We went to ******* Emergency unit last night because Mom some eye infection she got from cleaning detergents products. The Doc at the hospital in question gave us prescriptions that are supposed to cure nostril sores/red eyes infections. So then the infection got worst and she ended up with severe skin rashes.
Then today we went there again to see another doctor and he told us to stop using that medication because Mom as medical record is not compatible with the prescription because Mom has a history of (HBP) and this doc from last night didn’t even bother check that before prescribing the pills.

Sadly a common occurrence in emergency rooms. My advice is to take her to her primary care regular physician for treatment. He/she will know your mother's history and take a better course of actions.

Emergency rooms really are just for temporary fixes.

Hope she feels better soon.

That is terrible. Cos every single time I've been to the ER they have asked me these queries and thankfully cos I do have a history of heart problems and intolerance to certain medications. Did you guys go in on a particularly busy night/day? Either ways what happened is not ok and should be reported pronto.

Wish your mom a speedy recovery.

Nurses ask you questions about allergies in the OPD and not in the ER, unless they were asked to give injections. The dr should have inquired about your mom's known allergic history, if that medication requires caution.

Hoping your mom is well now

Fatimah:Didn't the nurses ask the standard "allergic to any medicines?" "any previous history of such and such illnesses?" etc?

No they did not.

This could have been anybody with serious heart issues and could have died there and then.

Any Doc who misses crucial diagnoses, puts in no effort in examining his patient’s health record, make errors in prescriptions, and don’t give a god man thing about his patients, deserves his medical licenses taken away from him/her, and immediately.

It is your Mistake man...

It is just like going to a Doctor that you have pain somewhere and it is doctors responsibilty to find out where the pain is.

You should have explained everything to him. He prescribes medicines on your explanation of the symptoms only. And in emergency everybody is dealt emergently otherwise the next patient will die due to your cock and bull story.

A professional doc will delve deep into the medical history of his patient before prescribing a medicine that might not be suitable for all. Not the other way round.

Didn't the nurses ask the standard "allergic to any medicines?" "any previous history of such and such illnesses?" etc?

If they did, and the doctor prescribed these meds still, then that really is very unacceptable and should be reported.
