Interested in Comedy?

Are you funny? Do you like to laugh out loud or even by yourself? Do you like to make other people laugh when you can? Do you find the humor in everyday life?

If the previous describes you in some way perhaps you would like to join me to chat, write some comedy scripts/skits. Perhaps work on a stand up act. Then we can see where it takes the group. It might not go anywhere, but in the mean time you will have a few friends to bounce ideas off of.

What I am looking for is a few people, guys or gals that want to improve their comedic hobby or career if they have one. Qatar is up and coming as far as comic’s go and comedy so why not be prepared when it does come here full time. Serious people only please. Just because you think you’re funny that is not what I had in mind. I am thinking that at some point in your life you really do dream of performing in some capacity.

A little about myself and what I personally would like to see. I consider myself funny, more of the sarcastic nature. Now that doesn’t mean that if you put me on the spot, “Say Something Funny” that I will come up with that piece of comedy gold, but I have from time to time been able to spit a few funny lines. I have gotten pretty good at self deprecating humor.

I love to write and I like to think my work is decent, but could always use some constructive criticism. I think it would be great to form a comedy troupe to perform skits/bits, improve, or write and act in short funny videos for YouTube. I think it would be fun just acting out in the coffee shops for our own amusement.

I have had experience on stage as a musician so I don’t foresee any issues being on a stage or in front of anyone performing but that was with a band, not by myself, so for all I know my act might be me wetting myself on stage, but I hope not and will try to just be funny. I will leave the wetting myself act at home.

Some of my favorite comedians are mainly American and they include, Dave Chappelle, George Carlin, Steven Write, Steve Martin, Eddie Murphy and many more. When I was younger I memorized Eddie Murphy’s whole delirious act so I could make my friends laugh. I also like Second City, Saturday Night Live, and The Groundlings comedy troupe. Some of those comedians are blue humor but I personally think you can be clean and still be hilarious.

If you’re interested please contact me via email, [email protected] and tell me a little about yourself. I was thinking a few times a week perhaps meeting at a coffee shop to talk shop and make one another laugh.

I don't consider this heckling. Just negative comments. You have to expect them on here. There are always people who wait for a new forum to get thier 2 cents in. I think its funny how I am supposed to be funny to convince people to join me. The way I look at it either I will get some responses (which I have) and get something going or not either way, it's not the end of the world. That's not supposed to happen till later next year according to the Mayan's, so I got time. Thanks Timebandit for the possitive vibes, I really appreciate it.

jkcoza, I agree with you. He should have made us laugh with his post first to convince us to join him. His post and comments sound boring.

I thought you were here for a couple of laughs :-) If you are referring to me, and Im pretty sure you are, just to inform you that I didnt read your new profile as I dont care what ur real job is frankly..but I will say this...If you couldnt make me laugh after ur longggggggg post still, youre not gonna succeed in your mission. Good luck though on your future endeavours..just remember..life is full of laughs/giggles..dont be offended but nice try though..and btw dont let the coffee shop bit confuse you..maybe you were the one confused, as there really is nothing wrong with sitting in a coffee shop..hope you find what you are looking for..all the best..from ROFL (thats especially for you) :-)

As it is your opinion that is how I shall take it.  If you see it as desperation then so be it.  I see it as a way to meet new people and maybe get a few laughs.  Which is why I said if it doesn't go anywhere no big deal.  I think you should reread my profile  I updated it.  I created this a long time ago when I first got on here.  As my wife and I use this, I used her info when I signed up.  I am not female I am male,

I really can't believe you were confused by what I wrote.  I thought it was pretty clear to me.  Which part didn't you understand, the part about meeting at a coffee shop?  Or the part about writing and having fun writing and sharing your work?  Maybe it was the coffee shop part.  I think you don't give people enough credit, that you believe people are not smart enough to understand what I wrote.  In the future perhaps ask if your confused.  Maybe a quick note to say hay, I don't really understand.  "What do you mean when you say meet at a coffee shop to chat and exchange idea's."

As for my job description, yes I agree not some of my better stuff, it was a long time ago that I wrote that and decided to keep it  in.  I promise to do much better in the future so that more people like you can comment.  Oblivious to the fact that maybe I don't want people to know what I do.  Maybe not all of us put every shred of information out on the internet,  Do you really believe that is my job?  If not then it worked you have no idea what I do.  I am sure you will come back with some witty comment like, " yeah your not a comedy writer either," or something clever, which also makes  my point I want to get better and am looking for others who would like to do the same.  So I can expect your comedy stylings to join us then?

Thanks for taking the time to Constructively pick apart me and my post it truly has been a pleasure.

Ur request reeks of desperation to find some poor sods who will waste their time in coffee shops telling silly jokes..if your profile is anything to go by I would suggest first you tell us a joke and we will determine if you funny or not..then again, like you said, you cant produce funny jokes on the spot..if you want my suggestion, try to find friends in a different manner as not to confuse others here..or at least update your profile for people to take you seriously..I mean come on..dunno whats worse, your job description or the fact that you a female and inviting people to "laugh out loud" together. Start a club in QL or join the funny people already on here.

I meant to write Improv not improve, although improving is the idea. Just to be clear as long as your serious, experience is not necessarily needed. The idea is to build something with this,or at least try. Everybody starts somewhere why not now, why not here.
