Konnichiwa!

I'll be moving from Tokyo to Doha in a couple of weeks... I was wondering if anyone on here knows of any Japanese eateries, social events, etc., or are any Japanese people on QL? I'm American, でも日本語も大丈夫です!

Any information/links/etc. you could provide would be most appreciated.よろしくお願いします!

Cheers!

(Thought-invoking one-liner coming soon!)

Little Tokyo.... arienai!Yes, you are right,, the school has about 40 students. up to chu-gakkou 2 nen sei. It does help a lot for families to live this expatration together and not to have to stay behind for children's education.Extra hours?? for sure,,,but without the hassle of train rush hour!  Karada ni kio tsukete kudasai

I assume there's no Little Tokyo...I've heard about the Japanese School, but it only has a few dozen students. Seems that most of the Japanese (who are married) tend to leave their families and work in Qatar for a couple of years. Camelia, that sounds about right. Loyalty to the comapny above everything else, so they are probably working a lot of extra hours...

Well,, it is not a number out of the blue,, but given by the japanese Embassy.

You can find them in their offices or in the golf course,,,,

All the japanese trading companies are here banks, so many new projects in Ras Laffan, airport, Messaied, etc,,,, there are enough japanese children and they opened a japanese school

Camelia, thanks - I have found a few things online, so what you mentioned sounds about right. Ma, gambarimasu!Princess, of course I am expecting many things to be different. However, as there are very few connections to the Middle East from Japan (perhaps due to Japan's liberalsm?), I do not have much of a basis in which to form a concept of this... yet. Hoewver, I've been coached on the basics!

Welcome to Doha. It will be a culture shock coming from Japan where everything is so well organised! In Doha, there are about 2000 japanese citizens, your japanese speaking might help getting closer to them. There are a few japanese restaurants ( though not authentic) also some korean restaurants serving japanese food as well and you can buy some japanese frozen food in some of the supermarkets.Regarding the social,, very limited. Sometimes the Embassy might organise some japanese music festival, and the japanese community gets together for some outings or sports events.I hope this can help,,Ima wa totemo atsui desu, 50 C chikaku desu!kio tsukete kudasai!
