Has anyone lived in Jedda Saudi Arabia....
What is the level of Safety?
I see there is a State Department Alert for KSA...
I have been offered a job implementating SAP there and just some advice from anyone..I am a American...
any thoughts or comments would greatly be appreciated..
jeddah compared with the other cities in KSA is the most open and if your not into having a nightlife, you wouldn't have anything to worry about there.
was where I lived for a year 2001-2. Can't remember the compound name- too much Sid but all spanish names!!Great social life and lots of home brew. Real stuff was then around SAR600 a bottle! Went back a year ago and saw my old buddies- it's amazing, at the time the HB tasted great! Aquire ataste and you'll be ok. Remember, Saudi has approx 1500kms of Red sea coast, mostly untouched. Get out on a boat particualrly from yanbu and be in diving heaven! If you are a golfer, unfortunately the very lush grass course was allowed to dry out.......
Jeddah is a nice place. If you will be living in one of the western compounds there everything will be available for you. Booze is a little bit expensive. You can try home brew.
who has lived most recently in KSA. She was in Riyadh, but I'm sure she can give you some insight into living in KSA. Hopefully she will see her name mentioned in the recent comments and respond. Either that or PM her, I'm sure she won't mind if you say I suggested you do that.
I loved Jeddah, but then I lived there 30 years ago so not really an up to date account :D

..a 'bit expensive' in terms of imprisonment or deportation I would say :D
We used to buy on the black market, but it was very much under wraps. I also brewed our own wine.
