Katara to host folkloric shows of 25 countries
Katara has signed a cooperation agreement with the International Organization of Folk Art (IOV) Bahrain Regional Office to host cultural and traditional folkloric shows from 25 countries.
Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti recently met with IOV Deputy Chairman Ali Abdullah Khalifa on the sidelines of the signing of the agreement.
IOV is one of the major international nongovernmental organizations operating under the United Nation Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), whose mission is to increase the awareness and appreciation of all forms of folk art and folk culture.
Khalifa lauded the efforts carried out by Katara in reviving art and cultural heritage and encouraging societies to stick to their traditions and identity with their traditional art and culture as bridge of communication.
Dr Al Sulaiti said: “We are keen to diversify our cultural activities and events by hosting exhibitions, concerts, programmes and lectures as well as host traditional folk art and culture events.
According to this agreement, he said, Katara will host a programme entitled “Appointment with Katara”, which will last for six months from October to March, during which traditional folklore will be performed every Monday and Tuesday of the by artistes from 25 countries from various continents.
