Dear Rudol,ph

I need some information on the Liquor license. Right now in Doha i am working in one company and my employer is not my sponsor.

I have a provisional appointment letter from company stating my basic gross and other breakup of my salary.

When i go to QDC for liquor permit this provisional appointment leter will work or there has to be some official letter from employer to QDC stating for the permit?

Request for the early response.

Just make dure you have your own car when buying the liquors from QDC. And don't stop anywhere not even to groceries nearby..Go straight and unload your items at home..

Hi! you should get a letter from the sponsor mentioned on your ID card..he should be the authorized signatory otherwise it will not be honored.

Good luck...

But the sponsor here is NOT the employer, how can he sign for the salary he is not paying?

By anonymous• 23 Mar 2011 12:27

smoke, it must be the sponsor. He has the power to sign for the amount of basic salary you put in the form!

You need a letter from your "employer", coz thats who is paying your salary, which needs to be mentioned in the letter along with accommodation and other expenses.

Sponsor.

Some kind soul scan the backside of your receipt from QDC and post it here - there is a map on each liquor stroe receipt. For someone new in Doha it would be impossible to understand the directions.

from the vegetable round about go towards the Indian/Pak school roundabout. just before you reach the round about there is a school to your right. the Syndicate is just behind, follow the cars going there.

The Al Jazeera school is also on this street on the opposite side.

Sorry, I am not sure of the name of the street or the area.

Does anybody know how to get to QDC?

Thanks!

i thought that was implied when i mentioned the qatari id part. they don't issue id's if you don't have a residence permit.

i wouldn't recommend using somebody's license to buy booze.

a) only the permit holder is allowed to purchase alcohol

b) if the permit holder is caught delivering the "goods" to anywhere than their residence..they could run into serious trouble with the authorities

luckily i have a permit, and take full advantage of ladies nights whenever possible..:D

It is a very straight forward procedure, you only need the resident permit, a letter from your employer and some cash. You get the license right away.

I had a long chat with my sponsor today with regards to these types of issue and i am pretty sure that he said, first must come the residents permit, then everything else follows after that, altho i did not Specifically ask about a booze license...

The web site doesn't mention it, but I'm pretty sure you need your RP (Resident's Permit) before you get a liquor licence, and that'll take a few weeks. Most people need much less than their allowance, so if you find a friendly licence holder with spare capacity, you should be OK.

Mochafrap,

If you rely on "wasta", you could very quickly be "dead meat"!

this is the middle east. All rules are void & null if you have "wasta"..lol

Don't forget that your car insurance will cover you from picking up the allowance from the syndicate to dropping it at your residence.

If you call somewhere else off that route and have a bump, you could have a problem.

Oddly enough Mochafrap, some Qataris do get an "alcohol entertainment allowance"

you also need to have a minimum monthly salary of QR 4,000 (excluding allowances). Although I'm not entirely sure if they strictly adhere to that policy..

basically:

1. be anything other than qatari

2. get a letter from your employer

3. fill-up the form

4. take your id and 1000 QR deposit to a QDC outlet

5. THE END

Everything you need to know from the people who issue the permits and sell the liquor:

http://www.qdc.com.qa/

...and the deposit is QR.1000 now.

Need to be an Expat, have a letter from your sponsor, you give them a QR2,000 deposit, wait in line to fill out a form. Bingo, you get a card that allows you to go to the Liquor store and buy.

This is if I remember correctly, the liquior may have fogged my brain.
