Loneliness

Loneliness is one of the scourges of humanity. At the end of the day, we are all alone. We cannot always get our feelings, ideas or experiences across exactly. There is a painful reality that in such a country like here ultimately we, living apart from our loved ones are alone, by ourselves, and of course lonely. Loneliness is a curse for some people, a shadow that follows people all the time that rears its ugly head at every human contact. Some feel lonely when they get with minimal human contact. Whether you agree with me or not, loneliness is a universal phenomenon, it visits every human soul at some time in every culture, every race, every class, every age, and at all times in human history.
So guys, please be honest…have you ever come across this situation in your life? What is loneliness for you? Is it a state of mind? Or a condition?

I do play lots of chess on Yahoo

But this does not stand for the human touch

You still need someone to love, talk, learn from and fight with :S

I'm feeling very very lonely thee days and I just came to Qatar 4 weeks ago and still do not know what I'm going to do the next weeks.

I left my family and my friends back home and right now I'm all the time alone even at work. I try to go to the Cornish to walk or to meet somebody but no use everybody looks to be self oriented and occupied.

How do you guys cope with this?

By anonymous• 1 Jun 2011 12:12

That is a possibility and it's preferable.

While being alone I feel lonely, bad, unhappy and bored. Well... I am trying to escape from my bad moods by doing anything that could keep me busy. After all I am a social being by nature.

there's a big difference in "being alone" and "lonely" the former is more like a welcome solitude; "me time" so to speak where you know its not really how you wish to be forever more like a temporally break from human disturbances which you can fill up doing stuff you would normally not do when in company. However "lonely" is different. This is emotionally more a negative state which one doesn't really want to be in and where you actually crave "specific" company. Its possible even to be among hundreds and still feel "lonely" and loneliness is often linked to depression.

Personally I've been through both and whilst I appreciate my "Me time" I seek refuge in God from being "lonely"..this is never a feeling I want to ever experience again..Aameen!

The strongest trees are those that grow alone. The greatest dreams are those conceived alone. God can speak to you only when you are alone. Your purpose and life's meaning will be revealed to you only when you are alone. Yes, solitude is not the hovel of a recluse, but the mansion of a master... yet I am feeling lonely though I am surrounded by people .......

Loneliness is a state of mind. Sometimes we feel it even we are in the midst of a crowd. We have to consciously get out of it by concentrating on hobbies etc

Loneliness is a feeling and everyone goes through, and like any other feeling (love, hate etc.) creeps up when you are having one of those bad days. Just make sure you have someone to confide in, you do need someone to give you a nudge in times of grey.

But hey, you will get over it. This is how we all become self independent…

PS: A small advice, try doing things that you love. Break the normal 'monotonous' routine, i.e. work-out, watch a movie, eat out, read a book...

Loneliness when talking of minimal human contact, I consider is a boon here, atleast for me, and I prefer it that way.

Emotional isolation is a state of mind...it happens mostly when you are detached from someone /something. You can feel lonely even if you are surrounded by people.

social isolation is a condition....which mostly happens due to lack of friends or socializing.
