i dont think you need more information as there is enough to cover in a week or month.

my opinion about going for long drives is, stay in limit. no need to go fast, more than you can handle.

and try to go with some of your friend whom you feel good with, it will help.

if you are too young,try to joine aeronautical school. get flying, there are no cameras. you can enjoy for a while then come back to home. dont mind

I guess you picked the worst country to for a "long drive at high speed."

I mean get real. Where are the highways? and how safe are they for normal speeds anyway?

If I were you, I would speed in Germany on the Autobahn (have done it many times, safely). The distances are longer too. The scenery is definitely better than Qatar.

I am envious. My contacts at DGC haven't mentioned this at all and they play almost daily.

What is the place coming too. It is Qatar's first golf course.

One of the longest drives recorded was on the Umm Saeed Golf course. If my memory serves me correctly it was in excess of 600 yards and there is a plate on the fairway (past the hole) recording it.

I presume, you people are not aware of Abusamra Highway, the one goes to Saudi Border, its all new with four lanes each side and 98 Kms streight with no traffic at all...

Doha to Dukhan now would be far more difficult than before... would take more time as a lot of diversion roads are on the ways to DUKHAN... so beware of the winding and deadly excavated diggings ...

one nice route would also be:

1>Doha - Al Khor - Shamal via coastal roads

2>then down to Doha back again thru NORTH ROAD...

3> head west down to SALWA road

4> turn left down to UM SAIEED

5> and head north back to AL WAKRA

6> enjoy the evening fun of your entire rides upon u reach DOHA....

Yeah I remember Wakra used to quite close by and Umsaid was kinda in between Doha and Dukhan.. and I think that was the farthest we went in my Dad's car although we used to go for picnics from church(not official)somewhere really far off. I remeber the place had a huge park...dont remember the name of the place though..

well ... whenever im in a mood to drive more then 210 or 220... i trust none other than Abusamra Highway...

there are 3 cameras but u can manage your speed coz maximum speed on the road is 120 and cameras are visible from far....

Oh Dweller, you would cry if you were here. They are digging up the GC. The die hards are still out beyond the gate at the moment but it's all due to be hacked up soon. Also, remember when you come in through the gate, down past shop and Mosque? All that lovely green grass, also been hacked up. Trees are also gone.

Dukhan GC to the Ramada.

Long drives are fine and there are some intersting sights between Doha and Dukhan. The camel farm, Zikreet village and the nature reserve, not to mention the fantastic beaches. I am only talking to the people who want to race, speed and are worried about the radar cameras that are, after all, there to protect the rest of us.

Besides the idea of a long drive is not to speed and enjoy the scenery. I wonder what scenery is there in Doha though.

Please do NOT come to Dukhan. It is dangerous enough for us already without people going out to deliberately speed. No offence, but you are not welcome. Just in case you do come, note the various car wrecks along the way. We have lost several precious members of our commiunity in recent times, we don't want to lose any more.

As far as I remember it used to take about 1 hr from Doha to Dukhan before and 15 mins from Doha to Wakra and half an hour from Doha to umsaid. I donno how it is now...

Well you want to drive at 60kmph outside Doha, you might as well dont drive girl...outside Doha roads are 120Kmph and its a Crime to go that slow...about 90 - 100 is a decent enough one...but 60 Christ girl, you are better off getting someone to push the car...LOL!!!!

who knows that some police guy is also a QL memeber here...so is not a fast drive...is only a long drive...lolz.

The fines are too high in Qatar after they have revamped it, and yet again, now there is the Point system as well...so better watch out...and as for that Al Khor Road, well girl, that would end in about 30 mins after the Corniche and yes that road is very good but not long enough...Day Time you could take the road running parallel which is called the NORTH ROAD, mind you girl, DAY TIME, NIGHTS its real bad...no LIGHTS and a total screw up...North Road takes you right until the North Tip of Qatar...so thats a long one o yeah...

that is another option... and seems good too.

How about this...we meet at a point, drive for about 1 or 2 hours, then get to a common point with some shade, then have a mix of all kinds of breakfast (NO CATERING, PEOPLE BRING WHAT THEY WANT), and then we drive again, we get to a common point after say 3 hours (Time for LUNCH, This Time Catering), and then we drive for another 2 hours and when its time for Snacks, we end up at one of the beaches (WAKRAH) and gather for a QL Photo Session and some nice and hot BBQ...

im gonna give u an easy reference, use the signs next to highway, ones that indicates how many KM left to exit Highway:

Doha Al Khor:

1- 8Km (u have to take care the sign 7KM is missing ;) )

2- 18 Km (double sided)

3- 28 Km

before any radar u'll find 2 (120) speed limit on both sides of road

al Khor- Doha:

1- 31

2- 18 (double sided)

3- 8

But at one condition, BEautiful_facts needs to be driving in My Car...LOL!!!

Ok seriously I know Driving can be a lot of fun, paaji we used to have this Drive in India, Bangalore -> Hyderabad for freaking 14 hours...and I tell ya stopping at the good locations, 10 mins photo session, break, ciggies, the other stuff and all the way music with friends is a lot lot lot lot lot lot FUN...and I think we need to get that alive here...

Maybe I dont know how this would work but hopefully in due course of time, maybe QLSG DRIVE TO DUBAI...sounds exciting it will be even more...LOL!!!

 believe me its alot of fun like driving for straight 4 hours no brakes no signal no round about no police and you have seen it empty roads.

Long drive event through out Qatar. and on Friday wonder how many will join. i tell you totall round from Golf Club to Khor to Fuwirit to shamal to zubara to Ghuwriya to Jamiliya to Dukhan to umbab to salwa road to umseed to wakra takes about 4 hours for me and 7 hours for a driver like you

I know there have been other bigger drives, but this one was supposed to be small, but freaking it ended up so big and we actually made a circle of Qatar didnt we...?

And all the while it was you who was flying on the damn roads and not driving, thank god I took my dad's car that day otherwise I would have had my car give up on you and me that day...LOL!!!

 there are other routes to shamal and no traffic on them at all you will just see 1 or 2 cars nothing more.

drive all the way to al khor 3 cams each 10 KM the highway is abt 37 KM u can feel the speed and test ur car power

there's road to SHAMAL as well.. nice long roads.. try going out for Al-Khor... i wanted to drive there over the weekend but my mommy over-whelmed me with house tasks :'(

DARude, you remember the damn trip you made us take....got our azzes up early in the morning and then we drove all over Qatar from one end to the other in search of a good fishing spot and then in the FU**ING End, ended up right at the beach in front of my house, in Wakrah...LOL!!! Now that was indeed a long drive...LOL!!!

And beautiful_Facts: No girl, no fences here in Qatar...trust me, there aint no fences, so keep an eye out alright...and hey you can always count on me and DaRude to give you company...on the drive...just in case you get bored...LOL!!!

 you will only face police in Dukhan and there is no cam on any of those road. and the roads are perfect for racing.

Just going from Doha to Shahniya its about 25km 2 cams on that road.

when you get to the end on that road take right turn that will take you to otaibiya something on that road keep driving for about 25km more at end it turns left drive for 15km you get to the end of the road there is left turn to Jamiliya and right to ghauriya take left turn.(you will find a big transformer there) keep driving down to jamiliya about 20km when you reach jamiliya you will see a sports club with flood lights go that way and at end you will see muncipality office take left there drive down for 25km more. the road ends on Dukhan high way take right drive about 20km to dukhan. when you get to dukhan look for sign board Umbab just follow that its about 25km from there. when you get on umbab road keep driving for about 50km down to salwa road. you will end up on a bridge with salwa high way beneath it. turn left get on salwa road and drive back 70km to Doha.

Calculate how many Kilometers you covered in how many hours.

Way to Dukhan is highly not adviseble at this time...there is a lot lot lot of construction going on...so thats why we say Dukhan is not for a long pleasing drive...

Whichever you go, long drives becareful while driving fast, that there are a lot many Camels on these roads...so keep a quick check on your brakes and the speed of the car...

And yes DaRude, Shahaniya is the one we went right...or yes there is also one paaji, whats that north tip of Doha...about 90Kms from here...
