Manmade kills God-made

Manmade kills God-made

The construction of manmade islands off the shore of the Persian Gulf, is posing deveral significant impacts on the surrounding environment.

It’s almost impossible to dump tons and tons of sand, metal and concrete into the ocean, changing the established ecosystem in the ocean deep, and not expect any negative changes or reactions in the marine wildlife.

The construction of such commercial islands off the coast of Persian Gulf cities like, Manama, Dubai and Doha is causing serious environmental disturbance to the following:
1-In wildlife order of the surrounding coastal areas.
2-Coastal erosion,
3- And change in wave patterns and so on.

Off-shore excavations have caused the migration of fish and injured marine life due to reduced amounts of sunlight filtering down to seashore vegetation.

It’s not surprising, really that such megaprojects have become a favorite cause of environment rights and Greenpeace groups, who both have come out and severely criticized these manmade artificial islands for its complete utter lack of ethical/environmental responsibilities.

Despite worldwide criticisms The Persian gulf tow rivals continue killing marine life and damaging habitats and ecosystems.

btw....THE PHOTO IS MISLEADING...the photo of the dead pile of sharks is from a story of a pregnant shark that was caught and it was pregnant with 45 pups....the rest are normal catch from fishing

HERE'S THE ARTICAL WHERE THE PHOTO CAME FROM

I honestly think this topic EXTREMELY exaggerated and truly doubtful at best....This is a gulf we r talking about and a very shallow one at that. The very little fish which lives in it is found in very well known locations called "Foshoot" and absolutely NONE OF THEM is anywhere near or close to shore!!!!

Oh gush.... That's all killer sharks...they eat people if they are hungry we must put them to sleep...Don't go against developments... Humans are entitled to propagate and multiply...recreation facilities where built to make it hassle free and undisturbed in procreations.

While there may be some damages to the environment, the 2nd picture in your post is really exaggerated and not related to anywhere in UAE or Qatar. There was no issues like that anywhere in UAE or Qatar related to waterfront projects and such developments were based on proper environmental studies done to minimize environmental damage.

Nobody can technically reclaim sea...

If you fill one area with earth... some other part of earth will go under water...

Maldives are supposed become landless soon...due to rising sealevels... so also many islands many parts of the world.

You reclaim one island... one island disappears somewhere around the world...

thelonius, I'd be happy if they at least thought 10 years into the future. We might get better roads and villas that don't fall apart after 3 years.

land reclamation has been going on for centuries. It is no different to chopping down forests or clearing swathes of land for buildings.

Yes, the eco system suffers - but it also adjusts.
