No place for burqas in France: Sarkozy

Good move by the French. Should be appaluded and enforced elsewhere. To all who oppose it, what happened to womens lib?

I find it odd though. People should be free to choose right?

Forcing a person NOT to wear it is just as limiting as forcing someone to wear it right?

I guess we Expat will have to pay a price for Sarkozy comments. Guess the host GCC countries especially Qatar could ban sale of Alcohol as there is no place for the dreaded brew in an Islamic Country?, or enforce women entrying Qatar to wear an Abaya.

I think it should be left to the individual to decide if she should or should not wear the full clad Burqa.

Women are not forced to wear Burqas. I would have agreed should this be a decision against presuading women to wear Burqa. I am totally against this to enforce a law totally against wearing it even on your own willingness. The day is not far when they will pass a law to ban clothing for Women.

"The burqa is not a sign of religion, it is a sign of subservience. It will not be welcome on the territory of the French republic," the French president said.

Surely, the decision on whether she feels subservient when wearing it should be left to the individual ?

I think it is not from religion and the face should not be hidden because it is the Idintity.

You can read more on internat to know about Burqa, personally I am against it, but if some wear it as a habbit then it is up to them.
