No seatbelt, no child car seat...

Nic
By Nic

A father and his 10-year-old son and five-year-old daughter died in a head-on car crash in Al Ain yesterday.

Another son aged 7 is in critical condition in hospital with a skull fracture. The children's mother and two other sons aged 15 and 19 were also injured.

The little girl who died was not in a child car seat and no one in the vehicle appeared to have been wearing a seatbelt, an emergency-room doctor said. "The injuries are consistent with those an unrestrained person suffers in a collision."

Dracula,

Absolutely,

All children are born equally, what turns them into land cruisers rage drivers is how they were educated: to disrespect and abuse others!

BritExpat your safe here, I can never imagine a pile up here! One there are not many motorways and the motorways they have here have 4 lanes and hard any traffic!

And I am very sure this man loved his family very much - but as my mother pointed out after Princess Diana died and I commented about her poor children - "She didn't love them enough to wear a seatbelt" Would it have saved her, who knows?

Google Fujairah, underaged driver, nine passengers (I forget how many of his sisters) approx 2006 - his parents gave him the keys to the Land Cruiser, he flipped it at a roundabout - parents watched it all in the Land Cruiser following - no seatbelts, no license, no insurance.

It's sad how people think that it is cool to not have a seatbelt. It's just sad. In Scandinavia, they put a seat belt even when they sit in back seats

I have been involved in a few pile ups on the Motorways back home. I can say by experience that I am only here because in all thoses crashes I was wearing a seat belt, even though the cars were a right off I excaped with minor injuries. In one accident they had to cut the roof to get me out as the the guy behind reared into me..:)

I am using seat belts and encouraging those who do not use to use, and it is really a step which should be changed and let be normal if adults who are sitting in the back to put seat belts.

Let me tell you about an accident in Kuwait I saw.

[not for squeamish!]

Egyptian woman driving her Merc at speed. Rear ends a truck. She goes through the windscreen and lands in front of her car. Car continues and squashes her head. Policeman comes along and scoops her brain back into her broken skull like it's really going to help. If she was wearing her belt she'd still be alive.

A matter of civilizational evolution...

Here is not now yet, it remains still stuck way back in time in many aspects!

Just look around and see how children are driven by their parents!

Its ignorance and a bit of delay too, particularly those - the authorities - who have the power to change things.

By anonymous• 24 May 2011 14:01

They won't cry, B2D, when they see that Mama and Daddy are also wearing a seatbelt! They would rather imitate them.

By baldrick2dogs• 24 May 2011 13:59
baldrick2dogs

Then there's the "My child cries when he/she is strapped. in" mentality.

Surely crying is better than dead! They'll stop crying when they realize they won't get their way.

It should be mandatory that before anyone leaves the maternity ward with their newborn they should have a tutorial about car restraints for children- for gods sake, I was made to watch a ropey video about breatfeeding, why not the importance of using a car seat? If you use a car seat for a baby, you are more likely to migrate onto one for when the child gets older

I believe in God, the logic tells me that prevention is better than cure.

When a fire takes place, some people might say stop the fire, and yes we must stop the fire if it happened, but you do not know the consquences of the fire.

Isn't preventing the fire better?

saving lives is encouraged by God

"A sad reality that authorities are unable to control as they are themselves part of the problem!" OMGod...very very true! I know for a FACT there are people in influential positions in this country who are themselves reckless drivers and take pride in it too. They are so full of themselves really! May their souls rest in peace and may God give the woman the courage and strength to overcome this tragedy.

It also goes on to prove their philosophy of having half a dozen kids.. Even in this case, 2 kids died but 3 are still alive, right? Just imagine if they had only 2 kids? They would have been childless now.. That is the main reason Arabs have so many children.. Just in case an accident occurs, they might lose half of them but still would have a few left..

By Nic• 24 May 2011 13:01

Driving behavior in this region is the number one killer.
