people gain weight here

I have seen many gaining weight after staying in gulf countries .... is it because of the climate or good food??

What may be the reason??? sometimes gaining weight is good because some people are weak and they need to grow in weight but for some they grow much fat

People come here underweight/ideal weight and then balloon out within months. All that calorie rich food plus minimum physical activity sure takes it toll. Best bet is to learn to resist temptation,no matter how cheap and yum, and stick to a healthy diet(might cost more too) with a few indulgences here and there. Personally as compared to in SL I do find more lower calorie/fat options here, which to me was a big boon!

@ XBRL : there is a big difference between quality food and good-and-healthy food... That kind of food you cannot find here... it's imported from other countries and sometimes other continents. It's filled with all kinds of preservatives and anti-oxidants that keep the food "good" for a long time but they have no taste, less vitamins and minerals then they should.

And yes... curvy is better... at least from my personal point of view... i never liked skinny people...

It's true... i like to eat... the experience is something that is worth gaining a few extra kg's... but when i am eating i am usually thinking about the "freshness" of what i am eating. Maybe i'm being picky with my food... but i've grown to appreciate really good food. And this country does not have good food... just cheap imitations...

As far as i can tell the "Eat this, it tastes good and it's made by X" model started by the all-fully-branded Americans it's taking shape here as well...

Anyway... healthy food is one thing and what you find on the supermarket shelves is not entirely healthy...

In IT terms you have a 4meg download/input and 512k upload/output...

in the IT world we have buffers for that..

but the human buffer, fails to flush it's cache..

Sedentary lifestyle and less than normal sleep appears to be the main cause. Australian Mutton contributes to this to a great extent. Heavy dependence on nonveg for food seems to be another reason. Not to forget, you are growing older and having a slower metabolism than before. However curvaceous/voluptuous is better than size zero, I thought.

Where you work as well..for example, construction workers will never get fat, hehe + how many hours you sleep every day. When you are over 30 for men and over 25 for women. You will gain weight if you not control and select your food even you eat less. In Qatar it also depending on the weather, some eat more during winter!

Proper exercise will burn calories, the best way to get skinny and loss your weight. No pain no gain(result). Go to gym class so that you got motivated!

Go, buy skinny jeans! it you cannot wear it, try not to button up! haha. Good Luck!

Those who open QL site on duty in working hours are most likely to gain weight @ 6 kgs per year.

This is because they get paid for 'not working' so they will become simply 6 kgs heavier even without eating anything too.

i came here a year ago with 75KG... now i'm more than 87kg...

The reason... routine: eat, sleep, work, eat, sleep, work. That's it... no mood for exercises, too hot outside, extremely poor quality food (seems to be a constant in this country - good food is very expensive and storage is an issue).

Also the Gov is complaining about rising cases of child obesity and diabetes.
