We are planning to open Russian supermarket in Doha. Just we need your suggestion what you need. What is most Russian product your missing in Doha. Please let me know.
But please make a proper market survey about the demand first. You have to be very particular in calculating the footfall to generate your target sales.
One of the issue in Qatar is the location. since Qatar is a small place and most of the business concentrating in Doha and also the issue of Demolizing old places can drive you a difficulity to find place.
Other thing is "The Rent" . It is too expensive in doha and Key Money also sometimes will drive you mad.
My suggestion is to make Supermarket for all nationalities but you can dedicated a particular space for Rusisn products.

From the list above I would buy, if there is a shop products under numbers 1, 4, 9, 10 and 12 the rest not buying even when visiting Russia, as don't trust the quality of those products. Still want to stay alive :-)
To open a supermarket is not a bad idea, but is should not be Russain only. Eastern European yes, will sound good. Same for restaurant. But for the beginning enough few shelfs in any of the supermarkets. What about Russian Bakery? I still miss Umm Al Quwain one...nyam nyam There should be some people who do pelmeni "to take away" :-)

In my childhood we used to get a beautiful Hindi Russian magazine....SOVIET NAARI.....I still want to have one set small big bigger one dolls from Russia....I want to have those big furr caps the coldiers wear there.....I want to buy those beautiful embroidered froks...the list goes on......
Buckwheat at a reasonable price, as in Megamart it is extremely expensive. Some kinds of mayonaise, some kinds of sweets. To my mind, not so many Russians or former Soviet Union countries' citizens here. To open a supermarket or even small shop is risky. As most of the people do weekly shopping in big local supermarkets and all Russian products can be a kind of delicatesse they want to buy. Check in Odnoklassniki, there are 538 registered members, 1/3 rd of which have already left the country. Most of them travel once a year or often. So, they can bring whatever they need. So, how many customers can you have? Second, the most important, alcohol and pork products are restricted. Your list now can be shorter. If I were you, I would start a regular delivery of products to Qatar and charge some fixed fee for delivery. Without opening a supetmarket. Just to start with. Later, when you have enough customers (not only Russian-speaking, but maybe foreigners), try with a supermarket. УДАЧИ В НАЧИНАНИЯХ.

I have been bumping into Russian speakers all the time.
