Now that u have been in Qatar for some time and have experienced this adventure... if you could go back in time knowing what you know NOW, would u do it all over again??

if yes, why?

If not, why?

frankly speaking?? uhm, when new to QA, one must find it interesting and more more fun but for some reason like been here for years or decades i dont think they feel the same way.. its kinda boring since youve been all to places a million times and its somewhat like retarded.haha but oh well, that's life :). we all here to look for opportunites and $$$$ is GOOD here (free tax as duty free.lol, items are affordable tho nowadays prices/rentals/etc have increased but still anyone can afford, cheap fuel, etc).

...and as long as resto's have drinks, that dont bother me. haha Enjoy life living in QA the best we can is at least we can do... :D

but staying here is really great specifically if you are earning great. But still, given a chance to work in another country with better peace of mind, and chance to travel again (well, better if closer to home country), why not? Qatar is great but all of us aspire for the greater or if possible, the greatest.

Since this is my first work abroad experience, I know for sure that I would have done it all over again every time. I've always preferred multi-cultured environments to single-cultured ones. And Qatar seems to be (for me) the most relaxed multi-cultured country in the world. But I'm sure with the Economical Revolution happening here these times, it will not be late before this country turns to another Hell-on-earth for expats like all other gulf countries.

Oh yes indeed for I have indeed been fortunate to find a land of such understated beauty and cleverly hidden culture. Indeed I have. My favourite spot, indeed the favourite beauty spot of many fellow intrepid expatriates has to be the wonderful QDC building. It is indeed a joy to behold and lets face it, stuffed full of booze. Indeed it is. Hic!Yippee, Yippeee, its GORDONS gin for me!

I love it here!!

- QL

- QL

- the driving...I know its nuts but I love driving with the idiots!! Just like Houston!

- the people...not just the locals, but the expats. I mean where else would you meet everyone from all over the world with their different cultures and religions, mixed together??

- its where I found my two lovely dogs...

- its quirky and never dull.

Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked, the good fortune to run into the ones I do,and the eyesight to tell the difference.

....would not miss the driving experiences for the World!!

....the summer heat ... fantastic!!

... the news papers exercising their right of 'freedom of the press' sublime!!

... where else is there 24/7 free stock car racing you can be involved in!!

.. queue jumping at supermarkets, junctions etc an experience to savour!!

... running out of water in mid summer, exquisite!!

.. begging the boss for an exit visa when going on leave, so humbling!!

... being fined for speeding while 3000km away on holiday, wonderbar!!

.. being ripped off by the landlord year after year .... my pleasure!!

.. oh the list goes on ............ hang on, why am I still here ............. quick boss, exit visa please, please !!!

But to be serious (yes, above was a joke so give me a break!!!:-)I could drum up a similar list for most places) So there must be something keeping the long timers here. Maybe it is the thought of what lies in store for them back home, it is obviously not as appealing as staying here, all things taken into context, as mallrat & qatarkiwi said, it's the same for me, it's for the dosh, dosh, dosh!!!.

Oh, and to answer the original post question, yes, I would do it again, Qatar ain't that bad, warts and all!!
