can anybody help me with regards to an increase made last 2007, wherein my company gave only 50 rials in additional to my monthly salary of 800.00.

im trying to get back what is rightfully mine, as i work 365 days a year. i have been with megamart for 9 years. and my boss tried to cancell me verbally on the spot, without any prior notice, which is illegal,as per the labor law.

i have filed a case in dafna, but i am still gathering resources to make my case stronger.

they have violated many laws, wherein i found out only now, as i am having a better understanding of the labor law.

advice, highly appreciated.

Doc, you as an expat have limited rights, and if you are sponsored by megamart, then, I do not think you have much chance as the sponsor is an Al Thani.

If your take home is Qr.850,00 after food, lodging, clothing, why complain, you should try and ask for yearly ticket back and forth to home country. Will you be earning more in your home country if you go back now, then do it? If you shake the tree, you will not be able to return for 2 years.

I shop at Megamart, Shoprite, and some items are expense, but there are some items unique to you guys.

All the best in making the right decision, people can only give their thought, but the final decision and consequences are yours.

IMO, you can earn more than that in our home country. QR850 + overtime is not worth it to sacrifice being away from your family much more if you have children. Being well versed is one of your edge, use it wisely.

we do not have pay slips, copy of contract. we do not get annual leaves. how bad can it really be? all i need is advice, on how to make my case stronger, get what is due me, then get the hell out of here. doha is okay....but to work in megamart, where everything is more expensive than other supermarkets, but salaries and treatments from managers are so inhumane, i just want to put it all behind me.

i started working in megamart june 2004. i signed a contract wherein reading it was not allowed. a shotgun to my head, yes. im here, what more can i do? my colleagues pay 3k rials to pay immigration back home, just to get here. i work at the cheese counter, if you are expats buying cheese and sandwich meat in megamart or shoprite, then you know me. i really didnt have plans to complain. im a person who always smiles and somehow find contentment in what i do, and have. we get half days off, but to work compolsary for 6 hours on these days cant be considered a dayoff, you think? we work 12 hours a day for 6 days, and 6 hours on the 7th day. we do 4 hours compolsary overtime everyday.we are paid for these 4 hours, based on the hourly rate plus 125%, wc started june 2012.what about 2004-2012?

First of all you English is way above your pay grade... I am sure you can find something better.

Secondly, by law everyone should have time off... plus the Eid and other holidays.

So I say for for it... talk to the court... would be better if you could find someone who speak arabic to assist you with this.

850 is really too low... the cleaning boy get more than that.

Good luck !!
