I forgot to say that the DSAC club house is very hard to find. There is a small road opposite the Oasis hotel. Take this road. On either side of the road for the first part is just wasteland. Park approx 200 meters up from the beginning of the road and walk straight ahead. To your right you will see a distribution company and a few trucks. Walk to the left of this company another 50 metres. On your left, you will see a blue door with two lights above it leading to a villa. This is the DSAC clubhouse. Just go in and introduce yourself and ask for Lisa.
I joined in September but can't remember the cost. I think it was 1,600QR for one year but that includes all training and equipment (except snorkel, mask and fins which you buy yourself. It takes about a month to qualify as an Ocean Diver. You can then qualify as a sport diver for a further 100QR. You can also learn boat handling skills and other things that they offer. Its really good with a good mix of nationalities. One of my Morroccan colleagues is keeping tonight to even further diversify the international nature of the membership.
There is a club meeting tonight (and every Tuesday) so if you are interested, just show up and ask for Lisa. Lisa is the membership secretary and she knows all the details.
Doha Sub Aqua Club opposite Oasis hotel is good. They meet tonight at 7.30. Just show up. They give full training and it is a very friendly club. They go diving every weekend and you can rent the gear for nothing if you are training to dive.
Don't bother with the shop on Nasr Street in Al Sadd. It is expensive and has very little choice. There are three other dive shops in Doha and I can send you a map of their locations if you want.
If you need to learn Scuba and have not yet qualified don't buy anything yet. The club will advise you what you need and where to get it.
I am currently learning to dive with DSAC and really enjoy it.
In Al Saad there is a shop selling Scuba Diving Gear... the guy there also teaches and licences Scuba Divers... check there... I think it's Frig Nasr Street... I'd advise not to sign in for now coz u'l be freezing ur nuts off dude...

If you are interested, please email me at [email protected] and i shall hook you up with the guy.
