A traditional handicraft exhibition highlighted yesterday’s activities at the Palestinian Heritage Week organised by Katara in collaboration with the Palestinian Qatari Friendship Association.

The Palestinian handicrafts on display at the expo held at Building 3 vary in colours and designs and reflect the environment and history of Palestine over the ages.

The exhibition wraps up on April 29, and includes a live Palestinian Dabke performance considered as a major Palestinian tradition and folklore which is based on an artistic and cultural heritage.

This traditional folk dance extends for numerous years and features holding of hands to reflect the unity and solidarity of this people. This will be followed by a performance of popular Palestinian songs.

The day will conclude with a live fashion show of traditional Palestinian costumes, which form an integral part of this people’s culture and differ in embroidery and colors according to areas in Palestine.

“We are happy with the public’s reaction to these cultural activities and events. These efforts aim at transforming Katara into the number one cultural destination in Qatar,” said Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti.

Launched on Wednesday, the Palestinian Heritage Week teems with a variety of shows that reflect the story and struggles of Palestinians over the ages.

These events were attended by many Arab and foreign communities and families.

Each day features different events where popular, folkloric and artistic shows are provided to reflect the heritage and culture of the Palestinian people. (Source: The Peninsula)
