Until death do us part - 1 dies/hr cuz of dowry

landloverreview
By landloverreview

One woman dies every hour in India because of dowry-related crimes, women's rights activists have said.

The National Crime Records Bureau said that 8,233 women were killed across India last year because of disputes over dowry payments given by the bride's family to the groom or his family at the time of marriage.

The conviction rate in dowry-related crimes remained a low 32 percent, according to statistics the bureau published last week.

"Marriages [are] like a business proposition where the groom and his family make exorbitant demands. And the wealthier the family, the more outrageous the demands," Kumari said.

All the important media across the globe has reported this and 24% of Expatriates in Qatar are Indians & QL is the most visited website in this part of planet and it scores the top most ratings in SEO, hence don't take it personal. You are welcome to have arguments and counter arguments but you can't stop the world journalism. Thanks a million.

My interest is conversation and awareness , as simple as that. Satellite launched was not relevant to my interest.

I posted food bill with a good intention & appreciation that it will help millions of poor in India but you mates took it in wrong way & turned it down with your own hidden agenda.

You guys really wanna know?

I am also an Indian & I have a dream & my dream is a better India with men who dont feel discriminated by their surroundings & women feel secure, with less deaths cuz of corruption and malnutrition & my approach is strong buz it hurts you all but I want all of you to accept the fact that constructive criticism is not meant for humiliation.

Stop it or the culprits will get their QL ID deleted.

There comes a time when you have to plant your feet, look fear in the face and say,"You don't control me anymore."

So women and men, raise up. It is good to live alone than marrying to someone who begs being educated and energetic.

I was once travelling in train, I saw two blind men selling toys. I gave him few bucks just as it is but he returned it and told me "he believes in hard work" and I gave him a hug. I wished at least he has eyes to see how much appreciation I have for him. I thought if I have my own business I would have given him a job.

I repeat those two blind men were also INDIANS.

I can say one thing confidently women(mothers, aunts, relatives etc.) are the only responsible persons for the Dowry Related incidents rather than men as the Mothers of Grooms are more active in dowry Demands than the Fathers this a general Observation.

In Arab Countries - No dowry deaths are heard of and not a single man or woman is burned or put to death .

Indian woman despite "self made woman" she is subjected to humiliation for any shortage in the dowry this what daily at an average 2-4 news appear in news papers.

This is a Bitter truth about Indian culture tradition.

Ultimate victims in All walks of life are WOMAN.... whether it is marriage, child labour, flesh trade or rape and so on the there is an unknown reason behind it which no one wants to face it or tackle it.

Taking onto oneself the onus to rectify an ill is the simplest of the things. Coming from you, who claims to be involved in social issues without borders, I sure was expecting a much bigger picture encompassing a wider audience, the govt machinery, NGO’s etc etc with some references of people working in this field for years with their success stories and how we can lend a helping hand to boost their efforts. I am really disappointed at the simplicity of the action put forth which have no sting at all.

"If you are taking dowry, you are slowly murdering your wife family or your wife, may be she will breakdown and commit suicide or will be dead in her heart all his life thinking about her father's suffering from debt. It is injustice cuz women and men are created to support each other. Would you like to see your daughter/sister in the same picture? No right? Hence same applied to others daughters and sisters.

You are all proving it here as well that we Indians are good in pulling others legs and we dont appreciate things, first we would like to judge their personal life, their mind, their works, their nationality, their goals. The person who talks about Flaws hates our country and bla bla bla.

It is not your India. It is my India as well.

It is clear that you are looking for country's reputation, I am standing by country poverty, helpless and hunger. As simple as that.

By happygolucky• 4 Sep 2013 11:31
happygolucky

Constructive criticism calls for constructive opinions in other words 'your take on the issue', which inspite of repeatedly saying you havent been able to state. Just a picture can convey different meaning to different people. And the pic here only shows the problem not what can be or should be done, in your opinion. And when one wants a discussion on an open forum he tries to make it as simple as it can rather than hoping everyone to automatically be aligned to its thoughts cos if that be then where is the necessity for discussion.

The greedy Indian people, a reality. I did not accept Dowry during my proposals for Marriage and People said behind me that I am Mental. More the Dowry more the Selling value of the Groom. But India lives still in its Jungle of Idols and superstitious beliefs like Sati - ie Burning of the wife after death of Husband so as to purify the family.
