What is missing from Qatar

Butterfly, time to open another one of those cans of worms (good to see my last one has got everyone thinking about such a disgusting way for women to be treated).

This is not aimed at what you all miss from respective home countries more over what can be done to actually promote Qatar. Granted the Losail City, Al Waab City, Pearl and other major developments are underway/planning. BUT!!!!

What is really missing from Qatar/Doha, we all know my opinion on clubbing in Doha (ha contradiction in terms)!! Are the shops sufficient in what they sell in the malls, I find them to be excuse the phrase "same same"!!!

i am too tired today....but let me try....

more shops to shop.variety is the spice of life....no one understands that concept here.

more parks for families and any other place that can be used for recreation.family clubs and stuff like that.

like to see more people walking and trying to stay healthy.

like to see more gyms that everyone can afford instead of keeping them in 5star hotels that a few privileged ones can think of using but wont use.

good life is missing in qatar right now with the skyrocketing expenses.....how can people live happily when they find it difficult to manage their expenses and if they are stressed out due to the finances how can they live a good life.

fairness in every aspect of life is missing.its "do as i please" attitude.sad sad very sad.

human rights is missing...yah there is a nice office and stuff.....not effective yet.............

concern for environment is missing...its all in ink and paper to stand the global pressure to safeguard environment...other than that money talks...or rather oil and gas talks.

now i am really on a trip of my own..............so i shall stop here.

Ah, sorry Im not inspired today! I know I would love to see little cafes and bars where you can sit alfresco and have an icecold beer or a hot expresso, just little charming places. I'm way too european.

I also miss proper beautiful beaches.

And pedestrian-friendly streets and roads.

Can't think of anything else right now...oh, yes, Pork?

told ya I wasn't inspired. Maybe tomorrow.

Qatar needs many things, which could all be achieved if there is a way to motivate people more. The people who have all the connections and money and power dont want to do anything, and all the people who have the ideas and the hopes dont have any connections or money or power. And the two groups dont want to meet in the middle!!

I was talking to a guy i met yesterday, he came to my class and he was a young guy full of ideas and future hopes and he was very smart, i was sickened to hear how all his efforts were shutdown and how corrupt-business practices tried to put him out when all he was trying to do was bring some of the things that were missing into Qatar.

There is too much emphasis on 'appearing successful' and self-promotion, thats why all businesses and events and everything around you here had no depth at all, it just has the outer shell but is empty inside. For example they have a world bodybuilding show and they invite a few world-class pro's to judge, many qatari's join the competition, and only a few people showed up, it didnt have a very good attendance at all. The next day the newspapers all had massive headlines saying "MOST SUCCESSFUL BODYBUILDING SHOW ON THE PLANET" and they had pictures of the few foreign pro's who came to judge.

Why do they lie to themselves? the event wasnt a success! Why werent any of the qatari competitors mentioned in the local paper? They just destroyed the morale of all the guys who worked hard to compete and then lied about the success and put the pics of a few well known guys just to feel like it was a success?? Lying to people is fun sometimes i admit to doing it every now and then but why do these people lie to themselves?? This is just an example of many hundreds i can give.

My point is Qatar needs depth, and that only comes with people really caring and giving attention to talents and ideas and helping promote them instead of just paying for a nice cover.

Yeah sure asian games is looking alright, but i would have rather some of that $2.8 Billion went towards fixing the broken sewer near my house.

Asian games organizers dont feel sour when i say this but for $28 dollars (one hundred million times less) i could have designed a website that would have promoted Qatar more than the asian games ever will. And this is coming from a guy who loves sports!
