No, wasn't saying you agreed with them, I was just thinking out loud as to why they were wrong.

I'm not saying I agree with the numbers. I'm just trying to help Sulmansaeed with another source. Besides, the CIA is going to report anything for their own benefit anyways on however they are figuring it :)

But the CIA figure isn't accurate for either just citizens or for all residents.

I'm guessing they took the last census figures and extrapolated, but didn't take into account the massive growth seen in Qatar in the last few years.

I believe the CIA population figures are representing citizens/passport holders of the country. It does not account for illegal immigrants, visitors, temporary workers, etc. Hope this helps.

The population figure from the CIA isn't accurate. It's definitely more like 1.4m as Amnesia said.

Qatar's official statistics as of October 2008 have Qatari's population at around 1.42m

Locals at around 320k

The locals male to female ratio is 1/1.3 (female gene is stronger).

The expat male ratio to female including locals is around 1.9/1 (Because there are so many male labourers here)

Total Population: Around 1.5 Million.

Qataris : A little over 200,000 (just look at the latest IPO, we all join - it includes newborns.)

That's scary, we're about 13% of the population.

They also don't publish the Male/Female Ratio, which would also be scary.
