What should be censored?

According to a summer poll by the Doha Debates, six out of 10 Arabs surveyed supported censorship of the arts in some form, with the majority of censorship supporters coming from GCC countries.

Here’s a visual representation of what people surveyed believed should be censored, in addition to the arts.

Thoughts?

One day our leaders will be able to censor thoughts from our minds. Then we will be truly safe.

You are right. The voice of the minorities needs to be heard, but the wants of the majority need to be addressed.

A "civilized" society hears the voices of the minorities, brit, and gives them a voice!

Surely, the majority MUST be catered for. If they make a mistake, then it will be resolved further down the chain..

A majority of Germans supported Hitler didn't they?

Is it a contradiction to say the majority can be wrong, or is it implicit that if the majority of people believe or support something, it becomes automatically true?

In a civilzed society the voice of the majority must be heard and heeded.

Personally I think Russia just wants to ban YouTube so that it can crack down on anti Putin sentiment.

I don't think there is a need to censor anything, as LP said if you don't want to watch something just turn off, problem solved.

Censorship also known as lame. But then again, to each his own.

Censor board employs people so you got to censor something to give them work.. Maybe they can censor Rebecca Black or Justin Beiber songs..

It's for the government and/lawmakers of the land to decide this as far as a nationwide censorship goes. Personally in my home and in my private life, I know exactly what should be censored and what should not so I don't really depend on those in authority to make that decision for me or my child!

By anonymous• 20 Sep 2012 08:08

Someone who knows what is good and what is bad has the chance to switch off the TV as soon as they show something bad. And he can also protect his children from it, IF he spends time with them and IF he knows what they are doing. So, there is no need to censor anything.

Expected. No surprise. They always need a "Leader" who tells them what is right and what is wrong. They are children, still.
