What's there left to do? (on weekends)
By azilana7037 •
Let me see now...
- Been to the inland sea several times
- Did dune bashing also
- attended barbeque parties (in beaches, in the desert and friends' homes)
- been to friends' private parties
- been to all clubs (discoes) and bars
- did overnight camping at the dessert
- did quadbiking
- attended concerts
- been to all the malls/shopping centres
Ok...what else to do in DOHA?
Travelling outside Qatar (Dubai, Oman, Egypt, etc)? Yup, but that would be possible for those who have EXTRA DOUGH to burn. But for the likes of me who earns just enough to send money home and survive in Doha, that's not a possibility.
What say you?
you kinda lost, girl?
hes back in qatar for now back in singapore in new year ,trixi :O) xxx
you're bored aren't you?
:-D
whatever
I don't think my company would allow a transfer for now
I'm keen on tennis/badminton at the moment. And a friend of mine and I are checking this double SKYDIVING :-)
better migrate to canada or somewhere else. That will keep your Party-face happy
Azzi I think you are done with Doha.. Apply for a transfer if youa re an expat..lol

Visit Dubai or Bahrain;
your neighboring countries for REAL fun for the extended weekends, which will fall in December.
You need to head from the skyscraper area of the city towards the InterCon and Ritz Carlton hotels. Turn right at the roundabout just before the ZigZag towers and The Pearl is in front of you.

GODSGRACE :
- I used to have a dog named STORM that I love very much. I got him from QAWS and he was my baby. Had to give him up though as I was in a very deep slump last year...and I can't afford to take care of him. I'm a QAWS supporter and still manage to feed some stray/street cats in our compound. Nowadays, 5 cats stays around the villa where I stay and adopted "me"..lol
Playing tennis...I have a filipino friend who does tennis training and we do play tennis when he and I have the same free time which is every Saturdays (planned)
YUP, I'm a few months shy from being 39 but I can't give advises/counsel...I'm still sorting myself out, so to speak. But I could always lend an ear or a shoulder to cry on :-)
I am also a member of the QL Volunteer Group and I do some things for the less fortunate people but I don't like people knowing it. It's something personal that I share with the people I help and the LORD.
XYNED: I never said I'm bored with DOHA. I am seeking what else left to do and experience. There's got to be something else to do and honestly, since I started this thread, I already have a list of what to do next and believe me, I'm getting excited and energized :-)
BASTOOK: It's already in my list ;-)
* Take a dessert trip around Qatar from top to bottom.
* Skating in City Center or Villagio
* Join the Ice Hockey team
* visit the Pearl Project and have a walk.
* Excersize

Johnjo offered to teach me how to play SQUASH but didn't managed to have the same free schedule to do so :-)
I plan to do that when my daughter comes over sometime early next year. My 39th and her 18th birthday rolled into one :-)
- I'm learning a few Arabic phrases a day
- Watch the sunrise --- been doing that almost everyday, makes me miss home
Write a book - I do keep journals...lol
Try Second Life - i haven't reached 40 years old yet ;-)
Go Fishing - did it once, got sunburned...lol
business as usual; World is round, so go in a circle do repeat, what u have already done before, to keep yourself interested/busy. I feel get enrolled to a sports club and get involved in a sporting activity unless you mastered and then switch to another.......hope this work
Have been there for a couple of times and people going there with great expectations were disappointed most of the time. But you can consider a Nile Cruise as a good choice. There are boat/hotels sailing on Nile and you are traveling between Luxor and Aswan. Its a good chance to see new places like Valley of the kings, Valley of the Queen and even you can go till Abu Simbel if you want. Have tried one and I can say that it was the best experience for me in Egypt.
"What doesn't kill me; makes me stronger..."
Learn Arabic

LOL Azi, yes join the choir! I go to the church every Thursdays though.. before I go crazy. :) My parents have been bugging me to take part in the gospel readings. I just laughed at the idea. Haha Maybe when I'm drunk enough one of these days.
The internet is our revenge machine
I intend to keep that schedule evry friday :-)

I am considering it...at least it's one way of making me smoke less and singing is also a stress-buster for me.
Were you there yesterday afternoon? I was sitting in the front pews (so I won't get distracted) like I always do.
:-)
That's good azy OHHHHHHHHHHH BTW the choir needs new members as they had advirtised last week
[img_assist|nid=50852|title=hmm|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]

but doing it again and again...excitement wears off and becomes routinary.
hey, I'm turning 39 in a couple more months and who knows, a decade from now, I might have my own grandchildren to have fun with :-)
You need more than "doing "things ,as compared to "ENJOY" doing things!!Try this way!!
Jordan? will do :-)
been to zeekrit and did crabbing already....lol :-)
....during my first year here in Doha (before I knew QL) I've been doing 12 hours work and stay home after that. Weekends were doing office works (unpaid) because it keeps me pre-occupied. and when at home, I read and eat, sleep and eat..lol
No probs azilana. Here's a link to The Boardwalk events; http://www.qatarliving.com/node/249648
Oh, and I think you should add Jordan to your list of places to see outside of Qatar. Lots to see and do there.
it's look like you've never try crabbing...
looks like you've been to almost every places here..how about zeekrit? for me, i work 4 days on and 4 days off, on my off days i'd rather sit at home and watch tv and go eat outside with my family.. i find it more relaxing..but that's me...
like OMAN, EGYPT, DUBAI, ABU DHABI, RIYADH, etc...just to know what it's like....
But I would like to explore and find out what i can about Qatar...coz I would still be around till my daughter finishes her university degree in about 2-3 years from now :-)
but a group of my friends (former staff and colleagues)in MOWASALAT are playing/competing in a basketball game, darts and chess.
i had fun as I saw all those (taxi/bus)drivers that went through training during my training centre administration days...a sort of reunion :-)
Safliya island --- I think i would do that, with some friends and their families.
The Broadwalk on The Pearl --- do they have a website? where can I see their list of events
tennis - already planned do that next weekend...for a change
Ice skating - - I need a "tushy cushion" for that...lol
Join baldrick and his crew on a photographic evening. - I still can't afford that camera but been researching/studying online for some pointers...will do that soon
Fuwairit, Dukhan, Al Grarriya, - been there. Even drove all the way to the end of Ras Laffan on my own one boring FRIDAY...LOL
Thanks for the info, tallg...much appreciated :-)
lol...azilana7037....u have done it all....
hhmm.. just came from a party.. i was exhausting. :D
xoxo
and trust the person I'm with...and that I can get home SAFE.
and about getting "SCREWED"... I don't do that. Although "rumours" said I did...lmao
that goes on with out saying ...
You can't teach experience...
darkskindeep - events at The Boardwalk; http://www.qatarliving.com/node/249648
well lucky us azi..to have done all that..wow I am jealous
-----------------
HE WHO DARES WINS
The Boardwalk on The Pearl .
how does that work again ???
got me interested ^_^ ..
getting drunk with my friends , taking different kinda pills smoking the night away , muzic / games and getting retarded is the only fun i get in this country .. . .. seems like thats been limited as well
i am unemployed so i guess every thing else is on my no no list >_<
Lots of threads on QL about the singing sand dunes. Here's one with a map; http://www.qatarliving.com/events/02apr2008/dunestock
who knows where i could find the "singing" sand?
cheers,
paul
and how about this; http://www.qatarliving.com/events/sports/waterski-and-wakeboard-world-cup
Safliya island is probably nice at this time of year. The Diplomatic Club will take you there are pick you up later for a reasonable price (especially if you go with friends and split the cost).
The Broadwalk on The Pearl has events going on at the moment (all free). Gotta be worth a trip there just to see what all the fuss is about, even if the entertainment isn't your sort of thing.
Hiring a tennis court at Khalifa Tennis Complex is pretty cheap.
Ice skating.
Join baldrick and his crew on a photographic evening.
Explore outside of Doha; north to Furawit(sp?), north west to the fort, west to Duhkan area.
well cannot argue with that..one one hand is egypt, a place with incredible history, culture and variety while on the other is dubai, a fairly hollow, artificial mirage in the desert...:-)
but if it can be claimed why not a trip to both places...!
Veni Vidi Vici
having friends and acquaintances from different countries just by being here in DOHA, I feel as I've been around the world already.
DOHA, QATAR is indeed the 'melting pot of Arab culture"...in my opinion.
Dubai trip will have to be under my company's expense...lol
Though I would consider EGYPT as birthday dream destination (the pyramids and sphynx) for me and my daughter...lol
One of the perks of being in Doha is that you never need to pay for any tickets as long as you know someone. Doha is all about contacts. It should be called the capital of the networking world.
You better save on your own food and drink for the trip to dubai...:-)p
Veni Vidi Vici
Don't tell me you don't crave to do something different in your life (in Doha).
Well, some people enjoy 'BACKSTABBING' & 'GRANDSTANDING' as their hobby and I find these prevalent nowadays...well, I don't wanna deteriorate to that level, thank you. :-)
Well see what will happen next...coz you know I'm gonna have pictures posted somewhere...lol
Sand boarding
Scuba Diving - THAT's one i intend to do sometime soon
:-)
Dhow trip to banana island - DONE THAT 3X too much
Jazz nights - QAR200 for tickets? TOO EXPENSIVE
Random seminars and conferences for the free food - NOPE, I can still buy my own food and drink...
Gatecrash parties - NOT MY KIND of FUN
You have probably done more than most folks in doha...but have you considered:
Sand boarding
Scuba Diving
Art & Photography Exhibitions
Racing on Losail circuit "in your car"
Live Football Matches
Dhow trip to banana island
Going to Ruwais to see Bahrain
The Pearl Boardwalk
Jazz nights
Rugby, Tennis & Badminton Socials
Para sailing
Random seminars and conferences for the free food
Gatecrash parties
Qatar Drama and Film Society
Grand Prix Athletics
Theres a lot more! The issue is in doha events are'nt advertised and usually one has to take the initiative to organise which is too much!
Also you do not necessarily need extra extra riyals to go to bahrain or dubai...the minimum expenditure is petrol and visa expense and thats it!!
Veni Vidi Vici
hey azzy looks like you've done it all eh? i guess now all thats left is to take a break from everything and do nothing! until u get bored again then get back to those things u mentioned! :p
Good Fortune always comes knocking at your door...when you are sh*tting in the toilet!! :)
_[]~SMoKE~[]_
I asked a stupid question...but then again, I maybe bored?
