Why are men afraid of confident women?

Eagley
By Eagley

Ok, this was part of the conversation some of us girls were having... and so I decided to google it and see ... Lol! They have a point there...

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080420221307AAQhLKk

"you have it wrong we are not afraid of confident successful women it just often seems that way.

1. some of us think a confident women is more likely to ask us out herself so we don't usually ask them out and just wait for them.

2. some confident women are really horrible people and with that in mind we dont mess with them.

since we dislike them the confident woman usually assumes that we are afraid insted of beleaving that the problem could be with herself or her fellow confident women."

Re: No. 1 - but if they are faced with confident women whose personality is I/ESTP? :P I/E meaning a mix of both introversion and extroversion.

you said - But if I think someone is a good potential, I will indicate and stay stationary briefly. But if no action on his part, he's probably not interested and so I move on. So many fishies ...

If the duration of your being 'stationery' is not clear to the 'other party';yuo run the risk of loosing a good opportunity for all things to come ;)

FS, "I've noticed that lots of men have issues with strong... intelligent women. Actually... they also have problems with women who are more technical and logical and have more "masculine"personalities……..

it depends on how she portrays herself and the situation. you can be strong and confident and be very approachable to guys. but if you give of an intimidating vibe then some guys will be scared..:)"

Aaahh... I am very approachable to many guys, but very careful of singles as do not wish to accidentally lead them on. But if I think someone is a good potential, I will indicate and stay stationary briefly. But if no action on his part, he's probably not interested and so I move on. So many fishies ...

I did say this to some of my friends before, but they "say why not just go ahead, if they misunderstand, it's not your problem" - but I don't like hurting people... Well, generally. Egocentric specimens, I'm just allergic to.. oops! But looking on the bright side, they need to pick up their egos off the floor once in a while. Maybe they'll learn something progressive and mind-broadening...

confidence actually helps in most matters but overdoing it is another issue. Men-in-love must know how to level off with their overconfident love one.

BTW, weak men must try to sip some confidence from their women and be confident themselves. Otherwise, they will wander off looking for weaker women....who would have no qualms of saying yes to anything and cling to his every word.

Guys confident women are a plus factor to confident men.

Confident men and women are praised. Too confident would make a person a snub self-centered arrogant sometimes, that's a major turn off.

...just like what britexpat said.

If you asked the girl on a date or a term, she says she's busy or doesn't like it that way. If you asked her "Ok you do it. Invite me" as you wanna trust her confidence, she can't even do it. It may lead to confusion, and if the man suddenly lost his patience, the 'turn off' point comes all the sudden.

Its a two way street. Overconfident women in some cases can also be overbearing and thus a turn off.

Similarly, a weak or insecure men can find it difficult to come to terms with confident women.

no matter how u cared for him, a man is always insecured whn it comes to well educated , beautiful and confident woman.

and the other thing , while a man is just a friend to one confident lady, he really admires her but if the same man through time become a boyfriend or hubby , he starts to complain .....

I think the article is written by a not so confident guy :-) - Don't worry - spend some time with me and he'll change. hehe

britexpat said Men like to be cared for, praised and feel they are in control.

This is very difficult with a confident woman :)"

That depends - on whether she is aware of herself and her surroundings. A truly confident woman does not need to prove anything to anyone.

Also, as for being in control - monotheist religions teach that the man is the head of the household and therefore, is the ultimate decision maker of the family, subject to God.

On one hand, some women consider it oppressive, that their husbands take the credit for their ideas, etc. But IMHO, it's more of a protection, that with the credit, he also has the responsibility for it. So why sweat the small stuff?

Of course, if things go wrong and he turns around and blames the wife, that shows weak character on his part. That's another story. But it's the same thing, not just in the family but in the workplace, etc. as well.

I consider myself pretty confident.:P And honestly I've never found men afraid of me or had problems in a relationship because of it...Perhaps however that's because I only date men who are as confident as I am.
