Yahoo email login stops working as employees are let go
Yahoo was off today for short bursts of time as the servers appeared to be overloaded. This is taking place at the same time that Yahoo declared layoffs of more than seven hundred workers. Some are pondering if this can be a mark of a downfall of the business. This layoff is likely to place a lot more people in the payday loan line.
Yahoo login and Yahoo offerings down
Many accounts on the web explained that Yahoo login just wasn’t functioning. That was Tuesday morning. Yahoo News, Yahoo Buzz and Yahoo email all wouldn’t work. It seemed like Yahoo offerings were down. Many outside email services reported problems also. Apparently Yahoo Mail servers weren’t working. As of 11:30 a.m. Pacific Time Tuesday, all Yahoo services appeared to be intermittently working.
Yahoo layoffs have been taking place
The Brand new York Times explained that there were rumors going around Monday night. Yahoo layoffs was the topic. Many news sources confirmed the rumors on Tuesday. About 5 percent of the workforce can be laid off, which is from 600 to seven hundred people. Most layoffs will be within Yahoo’s product group. This is the group that controls Yahoo goods like Yahoo mail. The Yahoo product division head told department heads to prepare for up to 20 percent of their workforce to get laid off a few days ago.
AOL acquisition off the table for Yahoo
The CEO position for Yahoo was taken in early 2009 by Carol Bartz. The company has been focused on finding ways for “users to interact in social fashions.” This is what she said the business goal is at present. AOL was thinking about making an acquisition offer for Yahoo just a little bit ago. The offer was never officially made and is off of the table. The good news is the Yahoo layoffs and removal of the AOL offer might actually save jobs, as a combined Yahoo/AOL business would have laid off a significant portion of its workforce.
