Zigzag lines before roundabouts / junctions

Be informed that the zigzag lines before the roundabouts or junctions is for vehicles to slowdown and not meant to serve the purpose of pedestrian crossing/zebra crossing.
Have seen people waiting across these lines trying to cross the road, putting everyone's life at risk. Very common to see people trying to cross over these lines in corniche area thinking it's the right of pedestrian.

Look for alternate white and black stripes painted on the road surface(parallel to each other) which are meant for the purpose of crossing the road.

Zig zag lines on both sides of the carriageway before and after a pedestrian crossing/roundabout mean....... "...must not park in area covered by zig zag lines" Highway Code 167.

It is so pedestrians can have a clear view of on-coming traffic without the hiderence of parked cars.

Pretty poinless here as people park ON the roundabouts!!!

Yes, that's right. Giving respect to pedestrians is fine, as long as they dont decide to jump in front of the car. As i said, this is for general awareness. Thanks for ur comments!

GodFather.

I think you are referring to the Shark teeth that at painted before Roundabout to warn people to slow down.

Other methods used are yellow rumble strips.

ajmani..

I don't think all those you saw waiting thinks that those ziqzag lines is a pedestrian crossing..

I think they are just lazy to go to crossing lanes and just chose a spot to cross where cars will slowdown and that is the zigzag lines near round abouts..

i believe there are even no crossing sign boards..

Pedestrians are always right, just for your information! It is a common law in the civilized world that the weaker have to be protected!
