The 2021-22 season of equestrian sports, which kicked off with the Show Horse Auction at the indoor arena of the Qatar Equestrian Federation Modern Pentathlon (QEFMP) on 24 September, is set to witness an array of thrilling events and competitions.

The season will feature various events from showjumping championships to flat racing, horse shows and, in their second season, Al Nashaab Tours. The fifth edition of the Qatar Equestrian Tours (Longines Hathab) will start on 15 October with a host of 14 various tours, including show jumping, dressage and the Future Riders.

All events will be held in coordination between QEFMP and QF's Al Shaqab. A number of high-profile championships will also be staged throughout the season.

The FEI World Dressage Challenge will be held on 21 February 2021, when the QEFMP will host the elite dressage riders. Another important landmark in the season will be the Commercial Bank CHI AL SHAQAB Presented by Longines, which will involve show jumping, dressage and para-dressage between 24 and 26 February.

February will round off with the HHThe Amir Sword Show Jumping Championships, which is organised by QEFMP in partnership with QF' Al Shaqab and coincides with the HH The Amir Sword Festival, which is organised by the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC).

Early March will be the time for the Longines Global Champions Tour, which is one of the world's most successful and thrilling showjumping championships. It will be organised at Longines arena of Al Shaqab between 4 and 6 March.

The flat racing season, organised by QREC, will see a quantum leap with the race days increased to 70 races. The Al Ghariya Cup Day will be the inaugural meeting of the season and will take place on 13 October 2021.

The races will be run at both Al Rayyan and Al Uqda racecourses featuring key meetings, including the HH The Amir Sword Festival, HH Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Thani Trophy, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani Trophy, H.E. Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani Rifle, the Late Sheikh Jassim Bin Mohammed Al Thani Trophy (National Day Trophy), Qatar Gold Sword and Qatar International Derby Festival.

In addition, the QREC horse show season will feature three auctions, seven national and international shows, and the 2nd Katara International Arabian Horse Festival and the 3rd Souq Waqif International Arabian Horse Festival.

On the other hand, the second running of the Al Nashaab Championship, to be co-organised by QEFMP and horseback Archery Equestrian Sport Center, will have three tours in the new season, demonstrating the focus on this traditional type of equestrian sports. The fitting finale of the season will be the final Hathab Tour on 20 May 2022.
