Ooredoo Doha Marathon 2022 was successfully organized today at Lusail City
People all over Qatar gathered at Lusail City today to participate and witness the most awaited run of the year, the Doha maraton 2022 oragnized by Ooredoo.
The newly announced ‘Aladaam’ category expected to induce more Qatari participation during the long run of the marathon event and sports in general.
The running event provided a variety of categories that enabled runners of different age groups and skill levels to participate. International running superstars as well as local running enthusiasts were part of this major running event along with the rest of the participants.
The maraton consisted of the following age categories along with various distances:
The age classification for the 42 km, 21 km, and 10 km races were:
- Men (<= 44), Men Master (44+),
- Women (<= 44), and Women Master (44+).
The age classification for the 5 km race was:
- Junior Men (13-17), Junior Women (13-17),
- Men (18+), and Women (18+).
The timing for all the groups were as follows:
- 42 km & 21 km race starts at 6.30 a.m.,
- 10 km at 7.15 a.m., and
- 5 km at 8 a.m.

Having a valid vaccination certificate was mandatory to register for the event.
The funds raised by the Ooredoo Doha Marathon are to go to charitable causes. This year’s recipient is Qatar Foundation’s Ability Friendly Program.
Individual runners participated in the event, with their run times fed onto the leaderboard using the Suffix Tracker app.
Since the venue was a residential area, the marathon including the long distance races ends at 11 am for all categories. As roads have to be opened by then as to follow the obligation to be met.
Thousands of people lined the streets, building an enthusiatic ambience you will not want to miss! Despite the large numbers, COVID-19 restrictions were strictly adhered to, by participants and spectators and their numbers were strictly limited. All current health and safety guidelines were complied with by the organizers.
The event was thrilling and witnessed a huge participation like never before.
