Hamad Al Qadi rides Gibria-B to Big Tour victory at 9th Longines Hathab Qatar Equestrian Tour
Hamad Nasser Al Qadi was the cynosure of all eyes at the Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF) on Saturday as he scripted a superb performance to claim the two top podium spots of the Big Tour Class in the 9th round of the Longines Hathab Qatar Equestrian Tour.
Al Qadi first excelled on his trusted mount, the chestnut mare Gibria-B, and then on another Dutch chestnut mare Electra B to claim the two top prizes.
The bespectacled rider clocked flawless 73.86secs astride Gibria-B. He was quicker with Electra but a clipped barrier saw the pair pick four faults with a time of 75.20secs for the runners-up place.
Saeed Nasser Al Qadi impressed on bay stud Andreas SPB Z finishing in 76.05secs with one fault which saw him finish third.
Earlier, the Open Class saw as many as 58 entries highlighting the growing base of showjumping entrants. Out of these 31 made the cut with Mohammed Jabor Al Naimi combining with Naville Z to finish the Two Phases (115/125cm) class with flawless winning times of 46.61secs and 28.92secs respectively.
Seasoned rider Salmeen Sultan Al Suwaidi astride Guilder’s Empire Of The Sun finished second in 46.00secs and 29.57secs respectively, while another experienced rider Mohammed Saeed Haidan on Apple Bee finished third (45.74secs & 30.18secs).
Hathab is run over a series of 12 showjumping and dressage round over the calendar year with seven best results and overall points being taken into account in deciding the overall champions.
