Residents invited to attend Qatar vs Kuwait T20 World Cup qualifiers
Cricket fans are encouraged to show their support as Qatar prepares to clash against Kuwait tomorrow for the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifier at the Asian Town Stadium from 1:10 pm.
Qatar has played 3 matches thus far under the Asia Group A Qualifier bracket, facing Bahrain, the Maldives, and Saudi Arabia on October 23, October 24, and October 27 respectively.
Having won its fixture against Saudi Arabia and the Maldives, Qatar will be looking to grab its third victory tomorrow in order to qualify for the next stage.
With Bahrain currently in lead (+1.942), Qatar (+1.037) will need to win by a large margin in their upcoming game against Kuwait in order to close the net run rate gap.
In addition to clinching a win against Kuwait, the Qatari cricket team will require Bahrain to either lose or win by a lower margin in order to qualify for the T20 World Cup in Australia as both teams have been able to secure two wins after three fixtures.
The Qatari squad includes Iqbal Hussain Chaudhry (Capt), Mohamed Rizlan (wk), Kamran Khan, Mohamed Tanveer, Zaheeruddeen Ibrahim, Imal Malindu, Gayan Buddika, Musawar Shah, Mohamed Nadeem, Dharmang Patel, Mohamed Murad Khan, Andri Berenger, Sandun Vithanage, and Mohamed Ikramullah.
Qatar was chosen to host the ICC qualifying event as part of the Road to Australia 2022, in addition to being joined by Bahrain, Kuwait, Maldives, and Saudi Arabia with one place in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier up for grabs.
This marks the first time an ICC event is being staged in Qatar, with all the matches taking place at the Asian Town Cricket Stadium.
Fans are allowed to witness the crucial game taking tomorrow, with the requirement for entry being required wearing a mask, following social distancing, and having a green status on the Ehteraz app.
