TotalEnergies, a Gold sponsor of the World Padel Championship which was held in Doha from November 15 to 20, congratulated Qatar Tennis Squash and Badminton Federation (QTF), and the International Padel Federation for the conclusion of a very successful tournament.

The World Padel Championship, being held for the first time outside the Americas and Europe, welcomed more than 300 representatives from 18 different countries during the 6 days, as well as numerous resident supporters.

Spain and Argentina emerged as the Champion and Runner Up for both the Men and Women’s tournament respectively, with Brazil bagging the bronze medal for the Men’s Tournament, and Italy for the Women’s.

This event saw Qatar qualifying for the first time ever in a World Padel Championship, with huge audiences supporting the National team until their final match.

This sponsorship is in the continuity of the long-term partnership between TotalEnergies Qatar and QTF in tennis, and is a good reflection of their engagement towards Qatar sport and society.

“We are very proud to have been involved in this tournament, which was largely successful both internationally, and in Qatar. We are delighted to have had the opportunity to support this major event, through a sport that is booming in Qatar and abroad”, said Matthieu Bouyer, Managing Director TotalEnergies EP Qatar and Country Chair.

“I would like to thank H.E. Nasser Bin Ghanim Al Khelaifi, President of Qatar Tennis Squash and Badminton Federation, Tariq Darwish Zainal, Secretary-General, members of the Board of Directors and the Organizing Committee for the quality of the organization that was at an incredible level. Congratulations to the Spanish men and women teams for winning the Championship titles, and the Argentinian, Brazilian and Italian teams for winning the silver and bronze medals”.

TotalEnergies, hosted some of the team players and captains in their booth located in the Public village of Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex, and engaged in conversations to understand and share their passion for the game.

During their interviews, the players expressed their appreciation for the support they have been receiving throughout the tournament – from the organizers and the audience members.

“We are very proud of how well we have done, and we hope to inspire the future generations of Padel players in Qatar”, said Mohammed Saadon Al Kuwari, a member of the Qatar National Team during his visit to TotalEnergies booth

“We would also like to thank sponsors of this tournament such as TotalEnergies who have helped support the game in reaching greater audiences in Qatar and around the world,” he added.

Padel, which is a relatively new game is in Qatar, has become the fastest-growing sport in the country, with over 50,000 players involved. Moreover, Qatar has launched an academy to train junior athletes, with almost 100 future athletes participating.
