Android rolls out new operating system for developers. Get yours now!
So if you’re an android phone fan, you might have heard about Google rolling out the ‘Android N’ operating system for developers to test well ahead of schedule.
Android N is currently available online and is intended for developers to use to prepare their apps.
You, the user, can also use it now, but you will have to turn on the ‘App developer’ mode on. Here is how to do it, BUT DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK: http://www.greenbot.com/article/2457986/how-to-enable-developer-options-on-your-android-phone-or-tablet.html
Once the App developer mode is enabled, look for software updates and you will see the option to download a 1.4GB file. Install it and you’re ready for the new system.
So what’s different in the new system? Here are three major features that are new.
Multi-windows
The biggest and most noticeable change on the new Android N system is its multi-window mode. It has the potential to transform the Android user experience.
Longer battery life
Android 6.0 Marshmallow has a feature called ‘Doze’ that lets apps go into a super-low-power mode when the screen is off and the device isn’t moving. Android N allows app makers to expand Doze to work the moment the screen turns off, which could offer big battery life upgrades.
Smarter notifications
Notifications in Android are still a mess — like email before smart inboxes. They can pile up with useless junk, and, important stuff gets lost.
Android N takes some steps towards fixing that. App developers can bundle their notifications together in a single box (the same way Google apps have done for a while), and make replies possible in the notification drop-down itself.
When will we see N’s final release?
Android N almost certainly won’t drop for the public until at least Google’s IO event running May 18 to 20.
