Hey Uber users, are you ready to pay for your rides in cash? Good news!
Uber came to Doha not too many years ago and it revolutionized the way people travel in the city. Harnessing the power of the Internet, the virtual cab company turned the business on its head.
However, it was not without its own problems. One of the biggest was the lack of an option to pay for rides in cash as all payments were processed online.
But starting now, you can pay for Uber rides in cash. The global conglomerate, testing a new ‘cash payment’ feature, has made Doha one of its very first testing grounds (out of 400+ cities it operates from).
“Doha, you asked and we listened. Choice is a beautiful thing and soon many of you will be able to pay for Uber rides using cash,” it said on its website recently.
All a rider has to do is set the pick-up location, choose ‘cash’ as payment option before confirming the request, take the ride and pay the driver directly in cash at the end of the trip.
The service is gradually being rolled out. If you don’t see the ‘cash’ option immediately on your app, then all you need to do is wait for a little more time.
Users can send their feedback about the experience and suggestions to [email protected].
So to recap, this is how it works…
* Open the Uber app and set your pick-up location
* Select CASH as your payment
* Request your ride
* Before you get out, pay the amount shown directly to the driver
Things to note
* Not everyone will see the cash option right away. It is still being tested and rolled out slowly.
* Cash option is only available for trips in Qatar.
* A valid Uber account is needed to be able to book a ride and pay in cash.
* No credit card details are required when signing up for Uber and paying in cash (for selected riders only).
* Fare adjustments are not possible for cash rides.
* There is no requesting fee or additional charge to riders.
Happy Ubering!
