Tech Review: Samsung Galaxy E7

The all new Samsung Galaxy E7 is now available in the Qatar market for a reasonable price of QAR1,099 at the Vodafone Qatar store, although some retailers in Al Mergab and Al Sadd were found selling it for QAR 1,200.

For a mid-range Samsung Galaxy running on Android 4.4 Kitkat with a quadcore 1.2 Ghz processor and 2 GB of RAM, this phone is pretty decent.

I liked the simple design and the exterior feel - quite light, slim and does not feel too chunky in my pocket. The shiny matte finish at the back looks nice in my opinion.

Through the new E-series DUOS, Samsung is slowly overtaking other competitors in providing some great dual-sim smartphones. The Samsung Galaxy E7 supports hybrid dual-SIM with 3G.

This smartphone also comes with a bigger 5.5-inch super-amoled display promising a great wide-angle view, making multitasking simpler.

None of the above-mentioned features are unique, but the fact that these features are now available for just over a thousand riyals is what will probably make this smartphone popular. Some might say these features will soon be obsolete, but I will argue that this phone is worth it for a price tag of QAR 1,099. Wait for a few more months and you may get it for a cheaper price.

The camera is one of the first features that most of us first check out in a phone. The 13-megapixel rear camera with the Sony Exmor R sensors does quite well during the day, but not great in low-light conditions.

One of the features that Samsung hopes will make this smartphone a hit is probably the selfie feature. All you have to do is show your palm to the front camera and it automatically takes a picture in 2 seconds.

The E7 can take wide angle selfies and is also equipped with a selfie voice command. Do you think that's impressive? I will let those obsessed with taking selfies decide.

Another cool feature for this E7 - switch it to Ultra power saving mode and the phone will run for almost 13 days, with limited functionality of course. This feature will come in handy if you get lost in the desert somewhere. If you only have 10% battery, just switch it to Ultra power saving and enjoy almost 24 hours of calling time (I am not sure if this will be helpful if you're lost in a vast desert though).

Below is a short video review.

What did you think of this smartphone? Will you buy it?

@Doha Socialite it does't as it's mid range. So you want to look at the Samsung Note 4 for more accurate comparison. But Samsung always will leave apple behind as they use newer technology. It's just a brand following that keep Apple popular, but for long that's the question? Steve Jobs has left maybe 10 years worth of ideas behind for future devices?
