VISA - converting business visa to Residence Permit

Hii everyone,
I am in qatar on a business visa. it will expire after 3 months i.e on 28th january, after which the company said it will issue me a RP.
I have got contradictory views on the issue from different people;i have no clarity whether i have to EXIT qatar for converting to RP or is it not necessary i.e. is it necessary to exit qatar for converting a business visa to a RP? or can i stay in qatar on a business visa and convert it to RP without having to exit??
I request you guys to give me correct information and clarity on the issue so that i can plan my travel if it is necessary. please also provide me with the offical links if any,to read about the visa issues.

no need exit if converting from business visa (sponsored by employer) to work visa...they can do RP without exit...

Actually i have some work pending in INDIA...
if i got exit from qatar,, i will complete that pending work and come again..
Hi Manish, You have to Exit country.
Then only your Employer can apply for Work Visa.
