Conditional RP for 1 year
Dear all,
As part of my employment with an oil company the medical tests revealed a patch in the X ray taken by the medical authorities here. Subsequently Sputum and PPD Tests were done and the consulting doctor here at Hamad concluded that I have latent TB (it is another matter though that I was only affected by severe Pneumonia and all these tests were done here ignoring the fact that doctors in Singapore and Malaysia also concurred with my previous medical history and wrote medical fitness certificates to that effect).
Anyways, looking at my personal situation, I signed off a declaration at the Medical Commission which instructs to undergo chemoprophylaxis in the form of medications to be taken for some specified period, though honestly I would not like to take these drugs as I have been told by others that these medications may produce significant side effects. The declaration form also states that I am being granted conditional residency permit for a year and to be renewed only after a discharge certificate by Hamad (I reckon that is given after completion of the chemoprophylaxis course though I am not sure).
My query is......If in between the duration of this chemoprophylaxis course, I manage to get a job elsewhere outside Qatar in some other country, can I leave this chemoprophylaxis course in between by informing the consulting doctor of the same? Are theere any consequences, health wise or any other, due to leaving the treatment in between?
Thanks in advance friends ! :)
I need help regarding this matter. please.
Hi Shayne,
The RP issued is identical with any other RP. No refference to any medical condition on it. the only difference from a "normal" RP is 1 year duration, but 1 year duration can be of your own choice as well, whithout any medical condition. So, you should not be concerned from this point of view.
Second, if you want to stop the medication, better talk to a doctor in advance. Doing it before completing the treatment can actually make you worse, by making the bacteria resistent to antibiotics.
So, unless you experience very serious side effects (like liver damage, shown by jaundice, normally), it's wiser to complete the treatment.
If you leave the country you shouldn't care of the doctors or authorities here, but you should care about your health.
Hi britexpat,
Yes I saw Dracu's response. But what really I wish to ask is that when I have a conditional RP stamped in my passport, is it like any other residency permit? i.e. if I do get a better job offer outside Qatar I can still leave the country by informing the hospital administering the latent TB medicine and of course after meeting the notice period requirements of the company?
Thanks :)
Excellent response from Dracu - See link:
