Is Husband name mandatory on wife's passport?
By umairnajib •
Hi All,
I want to ask if husband name is mandatory on wife passport if I wanna call her on visit visa or later on of I apply for her resident permit, currently she has his father name on Passport.
Regards
May be Euro people don't give important to the relation ships in the documents as husband & wife just follow their own ways quickly after their marriage .............
Umar, Not mandatory , you may call her as it is ......... no problem for her ..........
Well you learn something new everyday..
Seems strange, but to each his own
my wife already has a passport but with his father name, for visit visa or PR of my wife is it necessary to change it to my name?
In a Pakistani passport their is a provision where either the father's name or husband's name must appear. As such, since it is a case of your wife, I suggest you have your name on your wife's passport. I do not think you can currently get a Pakistani passport issued with either of the name missing.
I am from Pakistan so I will appreciate if Pakistani's can comment.
Wow! Now you really have a big choice to make. Guess who is right?
Dear Sir,
It is not required.

European passports don't have a provision for a wife's or a husband's name in the passport. Only for dependent children. However, my wife is in Qatar, too. So, it seems to depend on your nationality.
I believe it is. My wife's passport carries my name.
Every country has different rules.
Mine doesn't because it is MY passport.
Travelling passport. It contains father name or the husband name
What kind of passport are you talking about? A passport is the identification document of a single individual. It should have the individual's name and nothing else.
