Qatar Living speaks to the Qatari entrepreneur, Saad Al-Sulaiti, to learn more about his personal experience in building three businesses in Qatar.

Saad has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the UK. It was there where he developed a passion for creating his own business in Qatar for his society.

“During my study in the UK, I met a lot of European friends that own small businesses, and I had the dream to start up my business in Qatar,” he recalled.

“So while I was studying, I started my company Ronza Occasions, then I opened the other branch of it which is Lavender Events, and finally I started my last business FancyBox,” Saad said.

Ronza Occasions is an event management company, which provides customers with full event planning services and creative ideas. Ronza Occasions is the same as Lavender Events. However, the two companies are located in different locations in Qatar.

Lavender Events is all about luxurious event planning. It pays special attention to small details to get you the best decorations and sets to make events memorable.

FancyBox, is a website and application that sells Qatari products to help local brands connect with a huge and wide customer base.

Talking about his inspiration in life, Saad said his father, Abdulla Al Sulaiti, who was a very successful football star, has been a great source of encouragement for him.

“My father inspired and supported me as he was a successful man and he influenced me so much,” he mentioned.

Saad said he found a lot of motivation from the support of his friends as well.

Saad’s focus has been on helping local brands gain prominence through effective marketing. He encourages people to choose homegrown products from Qatari brands.

COVID-19 slowed down many businesses and it created many challenges for small businesses to grow or have a customer base.

During this difficult time, FancyBox served as a platform to support local brands feature their products online and gain visibility.

“We had a lot of difficulties in selling the products in the market, so FancyBox helped the customers,” he said.

Having three companies is quite challenging, but Saad was able to manage all of them, and succeed in growing the customer base in Qatar. It was Saad’s commitment to provide high-quality service for his customers that has lead to the success.

“When a customer pays for something, which has the quality of what he paid for, and when you’re honest with the customer, you can really build a good customer base,” he said.

Saad concluded with an advice to entrepreneurs saying, “You should always be different. Do not copy other people. This attitude is what will make you unique in the market and help you succeed.”
