WATCH: Welcome to Qatar - The National Museum of Qatar
Qatar, which is already home to the world-famous Museum of Islamic Art, is soon going to add another golden feather to its cultural cap.
Qatar is set to formally open the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) on March 28, 2019. Here at Qatar Living, we're delving into just what to expect at this magnificent new monument to Qatar's history.
NMoQ tells the story of Qatar and its people, giving voice to Qatar’s rich heritage and culture and expressing a vibrant community’s aspirations for the future.
With its extraordinary variety of sensory experiences, and its historic core of the Palace of Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim, son of the founder of modern Qatar, the museum embodies the fullness of Qatar's history, heritage, and contemporary life.
The museum building — designed by famed French designer Jean Nouvel who is a winner of the Pritzker Prize — on the Doha Corniche is forged using an interlocking disc design inspired by the Qatari desert rose.
Once the museum formally opens, there is little doubt that it will become yet another glowing tribute to the country’s enduring love affair with history and the arts.
