WATCH: Why are there so many supercars in Katara every day?
Driving around in groups of unique and specials cars has become very popular and somewhat of a tradition here in Qatar.
As a local living in Qatar, you are bound to see a group of special and unique cars driving around certain areas of the region.
This leaves one to ponder as to why such a tradition has become so popular in the region.
Although no one really knows its origin, the tradition can be traced over several years back and can be witnessed during special holidays and weekends.
In fact, you can see this tradition even during Ramadan as customized cars have been found driving around Katara near Iftar time.
According to locals, this tradition had first kicked off in Corniche Doha and has recently shifted to the Katara Cultural Village.
The tradition had also become a show of patriotism and solidarity during the Gulf Crisis that took place back in 2017.
Although Qatar had called it off in 2020 due to the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, this popular tradition is back again this year with participants and organizers working closely with the Traffic Department and Ministry of Interior to carry it out safely.
With increasing popularity each year, it is expected that this tradition will continue to be relished and celebrated throughout the years to come.
What would you name this special Qatari tradition? Let us know in the comments section below.
