Looking for a job in Qatar? Here’s what you need to know
If you are planning on moving to Qatar for employment or if you are in between jobs in Qatar, then this is for you. The job market in Qatar is relatively small. However, if you market your skills, qualifications and experience well, you can land the job you desire.

(1) Identify the field you want to apply and design your CV
Make a list of career options that interest you (i.e teacher, doctor, salesman, content creator, accountant etc.) along with a list of your strengths, qualifications, experience and long-term goals. Choose the profession that best matches your strengths and goals.
While doing this you could also explore the possibility of working two jobs. For instance, you could ask yourself – Can I do a daily wage job that pays the bills and work part time in a field that interests me?
While Qatar primarily offers employment for daily wage workers, there are options for freelancers as well. (2) Make a list of companies or institutions that interest you
Hop onto job portals like LinkedIn or even social media platforms like Facebook to look for companies or institutions that interest you. You could also visit the Qatar Living jobs page and select the jobs category that interest you to get an idea of places that are recruiting.
Understand the company’s culture and mission. You could do so by visiting the company website or social media pages and reading their bio. It is vital to be informed of what recruiters look for in job applicants before applying for a job.
(3) Try walk-ins or email them your CV
Once you have made your list, decide your method of approach. If the companies that interest you are not recruiting, you could still drop them your CV and ask them to get in touch with you when required. Cold reach can be fruitful if executed well.
If there is a vacancy in a company that interests you, tailor your CV to fit the job description before applying. If required, write a compelling cover letter outlining how you could be an invaluable asset to the company.
(4) Network
Multiple networking groups are available for both men and women in Qatar. If it’s your first time in Qatar, join these groups and attend their events and workshops. (5) Decide on your salary
Before attending your interview, decide on a salary that would meet your expenses and that would give room for some entertainment and savings. Make a costing sheet of your monthly expenses such as rent, transport, school costs (for families with kids), and food, before deciding on a reasonable figure.
