Asian Games Recruitment
By Carol Wilson •
Hi Anyone experienced problems with recruitment agencies? I want to work in Doha for the Asian Games but finding the whole recruitment set up moves at a snail pace. Welcome any alternative suggestions or recruitment agencies dealing with Protocol and Management
DAGOC was never seen (certainly not by me) as anything other than a project. How many projects have fixed hours? You work them when you need to. That's what projects are all about
Unfortunately you will have to work six day/week basis due to operational demend. No longer 5 day/week.
And like in West Asian Games last year, you will be expected to work 3 weeks non stop when the games are operational.
i have done with you.
Thank you
Be very careful when you negotiate your grade, less than grade 6 is a very poor payment, even beeing tax free.
Sorry but carol is probably not looking anymore as it was posted in Feb
try to apply via the sultan, I can give you his direct contact or via is deputy Patrcik.
Or correspond direct with:
[email protected]
best of luck
ps Carol please check you tax situation, you will be less than one tax year away from your country, therefore you will be liable to tax payment upon your return
Carol, I would always advise applying direct rather than using an agency. Unfortunately the entire recruitment process is incredibly slow. It seems to take months for anyone to be processed through it from apllication through to actually getting out here. It's just an annoying fact of life but as has been commented on elsewhere it tends to take a while to get done things done here so this just helps prepare you for it!
Asian Games is a stain in anyones CV. Mainly working for games servcies 1st floor.
Try to recruit in Africa will be better
They way you drink Giasi of course welcome aboard!!! lol :P
Does my last birthday party technically qualify as "an event". Im sure it was better than the last Asian Games :)
I know people who work for the Marketing Company of the Asian Games they are taking on people but you have to have event experience if you have send me your CV!
Hi All
I have been in contact with a few people in the Asian Games and they said to me they are now only allowed to employ people who are already living in Qatar as they have enough people from all over the world. Volunteers i am not sure about.
Natalie
I very much doubt that the volunteer list is full and suspect that it is just a delay in responding. They require literally thousands of volunteers.
i heard the volunteer is full now. Interviewed with them last month ... and heard nothing about it till now.
Unfortunately I don't know any other agency to recommend, but offer someone made (in response to another of your posts) to put you in touch directly with the Protocol head would definitely be worth following up.
Not sure what 'Range 4-6' would translate to in DAGOC levels but, as you would have seen, most of the currently available jobs seem to be at "coordinator" level, if that sounds appropriate...
From what I understand, the recruitment process lead time varies enourmously from person to person, and I am not sure why - perhaps it is just a function of how desperate a certain section is at that particular point in time (and therefore, how hard they push...).
Good luck!
Hi Loki -thanks for your response I was approached last November by CLR Global in the UK and have been waiting for the interview since then. I did apply on line a couple of weeks ago but have heard nothing. Going to apply for a couple more tomorow. Just wondered if there were any other ways to get through. The level I am looking for is quite high Range 4-6 I think. I have experience with the Manchester Commonwealth Games back in 2002 sgo thought it would be an ideal opportunity to build on my knowledge. Any further sugestions of other agencies in other parts of the world would be much appreciated.?
Carol, forgive me if this is obvious and you have already doing so.... but just to make sure - you have applied to DAGOC also via their website hiring process, right? (ie, as well as going via other recruitment agencies etc...?)
On the remote chance you haven't, the direct link to search for available jobs is:
http://www1.sniperhire.net/sniperhire/careers/doha2006/vacancysearch.aspx?companyid=19
In case that link doesn't work for some reason, it is also accessible via Organisation>Job Opportunities on:
http://www.doha-2006.com/en/index.aspx
From the list of current job ads, there would seem to be several positions in Protocol still available...
Have you had ANY response from whatever efforts you have made so far?
The quickest and probably easiest way will be to give them a call or to go into their office and sign up.
hi! i`m having trouble signing up as a volunteer on their website...it seems to be having technical problems.....lili.
