Boring Jobs Sucks
I was a purchaser for a contracting company before and it was a fulfilling job time flies so fast that you don't even notice, now I am working as document controller and it is killing me, filing all documents, searching files (upon request)that are ancient and you know nothing about so what I do mostly is read all this thousands of documents just to have an idea of what they are.
Now I'm like a walking library, with all the tags in my memory, hoping someday they will make me a purchaser again as I have applied for.
All are Equal in the Eyes of GOD.
WE ARE ALL BROTHERS AND SISTERS
And like you said, I hope the last day comes when I retire...
Thanks for the unsolicited advice...I really have to smile and cheer up..
Nothing is more relaxing than flying like an Eagle in Heaven !!
Well...some people are not working anymore at all and they would love to take ur job :) Wake up in the morning, smile and be happy. it might be ur last day despite of what would be the day! maybe just a routine. maybe the worst but sill can be the last! hope no! cheers!
At least you are humble enough to appreciate you have a job. I however, understand how boring some jobs can be.
Is it worth looking for something else?
All are Equal in the Eyes of GOD.
WE ARE ALL BROTHERS AND SISTERS
Thanks, I know i sound like an ungrateful one, its just that I like a proactive job but I am thankful that I have a job amidst the worsening world financial crisis, and my boss really appreciates me because everytime he ask for a particular document,in a flash i can find it for him.
As aisha said live with it and learn as much as I can for it will make my stock knowledge richer, and I know in the future i can use it to my advantage.
after all, you should be thankful. There are thousands of people who seeks jobs abroad, not to mention all the unemployed who needs to support their families. =)
Here’s a challenge: Go into work one day soon with a personal commitment to be “hyper” conscious about everything you learn that day. Ask yourself some of the following questions as the day goes along:
Does what I am doing right now (i.e., having a conversation, participating in a meeting, completing a routine task, etc.) increase my knowledge or skill level in any significant way? How?
What might turn this activity into more of a learning experience? What do I need to do to make that happen? What could my employer do?
What could I add into my activities for today that would provide for a learning experience?
How will I apply what I am learning (at any given moment in the day) to future work at my current job, or to a future job of my dreams?
What could I take out of my activities that does not contribute to learning and would not really be missed?
Am I learning things that contribute in a meaningful way to my long-term career and life goals?
At the end of the day, sit down and write or type out everything you feel you have learned during the day along with answers to the above questions and any others you might have asked yourself. Spend a bit of time reflecting on how what you have learned (or not learned!) fits into your overall desires for your career and life.
