Good luck with your school year as well. I am going to take as many personal items as I can taking into account the weight restrictions for my suitcases. Enjoy the rest of your summer vacation . Cheers.
Oh please dont forget the good advice of Britexpat.
welcome :P
Oh sir, be good. Even if I came into hurdles of living in Qatar with regards to my work. But I always thanks for having an opportunity to stay and have work here.
Maybe my experience in teaching before was a little bit difference as per culture is concerned and the type of students I had been but one thing I can advice to you is you should have a lot of PATIENCE to meet your goal as a teacher. Good luck.
bring your tooth brush and some relaxation rubber ball , because you need to relax and clean your mouth when you finish the 15 minutes driving from home to work ;)
Here we all need patience, but yet is a good place to live!
Welcome to Qatar!
Bring "red chilly powder" and stalker-repellent spray!
brit.. I was going to give same type of advice! something like bring strong protection against hunting men.. :)
Hello Miss Teacher and Canuckgal! I will also be coming to Doha to teach primary school in August. I am so excited and can't wait for this new adventure to begin! About the items....after my experience living in other foreign countries...I always bring my own tampons from the states! Good luck to you both, perhaps our paths will cross!
bring a whip, the little sh!ts need disciplining.
Get into an accident, get Amnesia and forget about Qatar. Can't give a better advice than this.
Thanks everyone for your feedback and welcome! I have heard that I will have to patient and expect some obvious culture shocks! but im really looking forward to it!
canuckgal: im not really sure what I will be taking but definately my laptop, straightners (my hair is naturally curly and a nightmare in the heat! eek) and lots of resources for my new class! :)
keep the info coming ;)
Beware of male predators and you'll be fine..
Hi! Be prepared for rude people..that's what I was not prepared for when I first came in Doha.I am not saying all people are rude, but when you come here, you will get the idea. If you live a simple life, you will survive. Good luck and all the best! =)
Hello Miss Teacher,
I have recently accepted an elementary teaching position and will be moving to Qatar in August. I am excited and looking forward to doing some travel during school holidays. Good luck with your new position. What items are you planning to pack? From what I hear, I think I will just buy electrical items like a laptop, hair dryer etc., upon arrival.
Cheers
Hello.. My advices are:
Do bring lots of PATIENCE. Always bring with you a handkerchief because you'll meet a lot of people with BO along the way - (they're almost everywhere, except for your own home of course, if you live alone or if you live with clean people). You have to learn to entertain yourself. The first time I've been here, I got so bored to death but somehow managed to learn to be content and keep myself entertained anyhow.
I hope you can survive the heat (+ BO / bad air), hope you can survive the tempers in here, just enjoy your life in your country as much as you can before time runs out.
1st of all wellcome miss.. U ask about advice..my advice is for you is that bring little bit patience & thin clothes with yourself..coz here some ppl are really very short temper & thin clothes is for the hoooooot weather here...
What's the name of the school?
where is it located
Hope you enjoy your stay here....Welcome in advance!
Howdy miss!
Bring a thick skin and loads and loads of patience
You will miss the summers.
Welcome to Doha Miss!
