Legal Question

Can anyone help please? I am an IT contractor and have been here for 3 months. On 1st July I submitted my first invoice to my employer, and it was due for payment within 30 days. It took them 43 days to pay. This month 32 days have passed since I invoiced them but still no payment. Is there anything I can do? I am worried that if I resign I will never see any money!

Thanks for any assistance.

Here, it's very normal for the Employers to settle the invoices as per their convenience.

I came to know that there are many International Consultants who got paid by the Employer after 1 year while they should have been paid on monthly basis.

Unlike Consultants, it is difficult for the Contractors to survive if the payment is delayed.

Anyways, if you got paid in 42 days for 1st invoice then it's okay. Just wait for 45 days or so for the second invoice, then you can knock the door of the Employer.

You can ask other Companies who have worked/are working with your Employer about the reputation of your Employer in paying the dues.

I dont know where are you from originally. But things work very slowly here. On top it is Ramazan time.

Atleast you are getting paid eventually. Put your head down and keep working. You could think going legal if you are not being paid at all. Late is norm here.
