why do they leave the lights on in almost every office building! have you tried going to 'city center mall' at night and noticed that almost every office in each building has the lights on! why the waste?????? this is really annoying me!

isn't it obvious.. I'm talking about office buildings leaving the lights on INSIDE the building while it is empty.. no employees..nobody!! I lived in NY.. and know how beautiful downtown is when the lights on the OUSIDE are on.. but never saw a single light in an office building on at 11 pm!! here.. the lights are on as soon as it's sunset.. and never off until sunrise! why?? this is really bugging me.. and wondering if i could call anybody regarding this! I'm serious...

Aries nobody is switching off the lights in the entire city.

Please read the subject being discussed .

I think the issue here is about leaving the lights on inside an unoccupied building.. if there are people inside the building, of course the lights would be turned on, it doesn't take much common sense to figure it out..

oh...i was not informed that edison only sold the bulb, but i think he's the inventor, nwe, admit it or not we cannot live without lights. i think if the people of qatar would choose either to turn on or off the lght i'm sure they would choose the lights to be turned on at night. try to turn off it at night, let see what could be the result.hhehehhe

Aries first of all electric bulb was NOT invented by Edison, he was only the first one to market it commercially.

Secondly what beauty can you see when lights are on INSIDE an unoccupied office building??

electric light was invented by thomas edison if i'm not mistakin' to for us to see the beauty of what sorrounds us when stars dont shine, and take note there are still countrie who turns on the light at night though works are done like las vegas, duba and many more, besides, that place where more lights on is one the attacted places here. am i ryt?

Aries what about thousands of ugly looking fluorescent lights on for no reason at all makes you happy?

By Aries.10• 26 Mar 2011 09:24

maybe there are people working at night from that bldg. and sure they are environmental well oriented.and as far as i know the word waste refers to something doesn't give good to others but having the feeling of little joy everytime you see the lights is consider worthy.

it doesn't matter if the country is rich or poor.. it's energy wasted!.. it's about being green.. it's about conserving for the good of this earth we live on!

if qatar is a poor country i would dis-agree to turn on the light at nyt but since qatar is rich there's nothing wrong with it,in fact the lights from the building make me happy everytime i go at city center.

It makes Qatar the highest-energy-consuming-per-head country in the world. World record!! Proud to be contributing!!

blue rose the security cameras installed in all those buildings can operate without any lights on. Security guard has to look at his monitor and can switch on the light in his room for that.

It doesn't make any building look beautiful. If they just keep facade lighting on, I can understand the beauty part but internal lights??? You got to be kidding me.

Yes, WK, even unoccupied buildings. Since there are tons around where I live, it really gets on my nerves.

They also turn the external lights on real early in lots of places. The street lights and even those IN the swimming poool in our compound are on before 5!

Doha was hosting an International Conference on the Environment recently. That news made me laugh!

This is the place where they gave me the classic *blank stare* when I asked what I should do with my glass and plastic.

i think its for security reasons..our office tower lights also on whole night and security guards are on each floor.if they switch off the lights how security guards will know that anyone enter the building or not?

All the Buildings have external glass cladding so they can switch off the lights during the day time and save energy during the day.

Not just City Center there are many buildings all over Doha where there is zero occupancy but all the lights are on at night.

What to do, electricity is cheap and conversation of energy is not a very popular idea in Qatar.
