Nepal Embassy-Final Rescue!

There are about 300 hundred thousand Nepali serving the needs of Qatar government as well as Qatar people and rest. Most of there Nepali get QR 600 (six hundred) per month in such a expensive city of Doha, where minimum cost of one time meal is QR 6, forget about transport and rent (they are rocketing high here)

Today everyone want to hire Nepali rather than Indian and Bangali or Sri Lankan- why?

Everyone what to hire Nepali because they can pay Nepali less and less, and can exploit them easily. Due to political problems back in Nepal, poverty has forced people out of country which give ( or make people vulnerable) for others to exploit them. Due to Nepal weak government and lack of management has forced thousand to suffer in Qatar as well as in other Gulf Countries.

Dr. Surya Nath Misra -Ambassador of Nepal to Qatar has reported media and labour ministry of Qatar several times for non-payment of salaries of Nepali workers here in Qatar up to 3-4 months. Almost 40-50 such cases of misuse of Nepali labour, non-payment of slaries, beating, over duty, rough working and living condition, promise one job and put in another come to Embassy of Nepal here in Qatar.

When these poor workers come to Qatar and see all those false promises and exploitation they have no other demand but to go back to Nepal. Most of them are really poor people, then take huge loan back Nepal to come to these countries, when they return back their financial condition even become worse than before.

Most of the time these workers being stranded in Nepal Embassy for almost one month- without job, food and accommodation-just waiting for EXIT permit from Qatar government. Thanks to Dr Surya Nath Misra (Nepali Ambassador) for providing accommodation and food to these Nepali people while they are waiting for their exit permits. Most of them have to pay almost 10 or visit to just for EXIT.. (Thanks... Qatar for your great... service...). Furthermore these people people has already exhausted all resources and it take almost QR 40-50 per visit to CID office which is located is located in some remote part of DOHA !

Despite of all these these stories are not new... it is happening from both side (in Qatar as well as Nepal) for almost 3-4 years but very little progress has been made to punish those people who are involved in misuse of labour.

I hope Qatar government as well as Nepali government and other nations like Inidia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Philippine and other nation work together to make life BETTER for these poor people.

It is very sad to see SLAVERY in this modern age where we are talking about ANIMAL RIGHT yet we deprived HUMAN RIGHT!

Its not only the case in Qatar, but also Saudi, UAE, Malaysia ,Bahrain etc.

The only party to be blamed is corrupt politics in Nepal. Since last 16 years we do not have a stable government as a result of which the beaurocracy has become so weak that Nepali Missions abroad are helpless when it comes to defending or working towards benifit of their nationals.

Nepalis are one of the most non-complaining people I have ever met...they seem to weather everything and move on like the tough mountain men that they are(lot of em at least). But its defenitely sad that they are being exploited...

Further more, they are treated like pariahs in this society especially on the weekend family day counts. Underpaid/unpaid, uncared for and shooed away from public places like malls n souqs on their only off-day. Makes one wonder whether their poverty back home would have been a better option.

On top of all this , most of em come here after paying more than Rs 100000 to unscrupulous agents for visa. High time their govt stepped in and put a check on its citizens flying to middle east. They would definitely be better off doing something with that money back home.
