According to our latest research on global LNG industry, “Global LNG Market Analysis”, rising crude oil and coal prices in the international market, coupled with the mounting pressure to develop clean power is driving the global LNG market. Japan is expected to be the leading importer, while Qatar will remain the major exporter in coming years.

As per the research report, Qatar's economy is continuously growing despite the worldwide economic turmoil due to its booming hydrocarbons industry as well as an array of downstream initiatives. In particular, Qatar’s burgeoning LNG industry is the main engine driving its economic growth.

Qatar is already the world's largest exporter of LNG and production is forecast to jump to 77 Million Metric Tons by 2010. In 2008, Qatar's gas sector overtook the oil as the largest contributor to GDP for the first time in the country's history. Gas constituted 32% of the state's income in 2008, compared with 27% share of the oil sector.

Qatar boasts of having the third largest natural gas reserves in the world and the largest reserves among all the existing LNG exporters. Proven recoverable reserves of natural gas in Qatar were estimated at 25.46 Trillion Cubic Meter at the end of 2008. These large natural gas reserves with high levels of investment will provide the country an extremely lucrative stance in future.

The economy will stabilize a lot....as gas contracts are long term...the rise & fall of oil rates will not harm Qatar much...in the future.

So its a very good thing!
