The company i am working deducting 50% (around QR. 750) of the Residence Permit fee every year from our salary for all staffs.

Is this allowed as per Qatar labor law?

Are you working for your sponsor? Were you recruited, hired and now employed by the person you are working for? If there's anything dodgy about your RP then you have no recourse.

It's NOT legal! But who the hell cares for laws in Qatar?

I know employees who are charged 100% of their RP application/renewal, so now you feel lucky that you are only charged 50%. But you should find a way to inform your employer that this no longer being practice here in Qatar. Try to check the labour law (i hope it is really stated there).

Shame on these companies though.

Ndekal, yes it is not allowed as per Qatari labor law but if they gave us no option and ask us to sign a contract stating that they are allowed to deduct such amount. Will the Contract be valid? is it enforceable?

What if they include it in our contract agreement that they are going to deduct such amount. Is it valid?

These so called employer s practice this because no one has had the courage to stand up to them. Just go to the labor office and ask the legitimacy of the deduction.
