Sending Fillipino maid home for vacation

Hi - we are planning to send our maid back to Phillipines for a holiday. What do I need to do in order to ensure sje can come back?

- I plan to visit the Phillipine labour office (she came through an agency but I have no contract with her so want to see if I need this done first)

- Then apply for exit permit (can I do this online?)

- Then I hear I need something like a re enty visa? Any one know what this is and how to get one?

Thanks!

and ask for Margie. I am not sure how much is the current cost but I'll ask as I have an appointment with one of their managers tomorrow about some drivers I'm recruiting from P.I.

Before she will travel to Philippines, bring her to POLO office near Hamad Hospital and discuss it with the Labor Attache. If she is satisfied with her salary and happy with her job she will come back. You need to secure OEC for the housemaid and a new contract signed by Labor attache. These are the requirements needed for her to come back in Qatar. I doubt if she will come back with the old salary rate because there is a new memorandum for salary of filipina housemaid starting November 10,2012 of US400. One of the requirements is the Labor contract signed by sponsor stating the US400 to process the agreement of the housemaid in Phil embassy.

just want to make sure that the (overseas) filipino workers are accounted for and working with proper documents.

The Phil Labor Office will just authenticate it and sign it so your maid could show that she's ok. you could ask a format/template from the Labour Office if you have none.

Thanks to people who responded - I was trying to avoid a discussion on the pro's and con's of sending a maid for a holiday - my maid has worked for me in Oman (2 years with holidays back to Phillipines) and now here in Qatar for nearly 2 years so I dont think she is not coming back (good salary, days off, treated with respect).

Anway - contract was not signed cos agency didnt provide me with one and did not realise this is needed. I went to Phillipine Labour Office today and they issued the Worker on leave documents (which they said acts as an exit permit from Phillipines)

I have heard that a contract needs to be shown on departure from phillipines as well - any know anything about this? and whether the contract needs to be lodged with the labour office here?

I paid just 7000/- inclusive everything this was 3 months ago.. She is a nice person.. In the end it all depends on how you treat your staff..

Prices went out of control recently. I forgot to reply to the one who complained about salary, it is agreed between government and embassy of maid, not open market. If too low, call your embassy.

QR9500 is a bit much. I only paid QR6000 for my agency.

my first sponsor in 2005 is a recruitment agency but back them, its 6000QAR (plane ticket, processing of documents, RP, medical) with 90 days grace period. We always make the prospective employer choose 2 applicants as an option.

That's why I am surprised you paid that much.

You should have asked your money back.

If Translator give her maid a day off a week then he is humane and not abusing Qatar Labor Law..

The issue is why these maids are not coming back and I just pointed one reason that is most of maids are not given that day of which i assume you are giving your maid..

I'm positive of you because your from a country that promotes freedom and respects human rights..

I paid 9500 for the agency, 1500 for the visa, and 1000 for 2 yrs RP, 100 for Medical, 20 for photos, and more which I do not remember. You will have to pay around 1500 for the return ticket after 2 years, (13,620 if you are too lazy to do math)

Actually, 500 more, as the first maid I sponsored turned out she had illegal misconduct in Saudi, and her CID here was rejected, and the agency wanted more money for more work.

Yet, I have to point out that there is major lack of info about the maid, and her sponsor at the time the contract is signed. I prefer that records of maids work history should be available to potential sponsors, and permission to sponsor maid should be not granted for sponsor with records of bad reports.

a recruitment agency in Qatar charges 6,000 -7,000riyals to get a FILIPINA maid that includes plane ticket, processing fee of documents in Qatar labour Office and the government agencies in the Philippines.

Unknown to everyone, the MAID pays the recruitment agency ONE MONTH SALARY for finding her a job. plus other government fees imposed to the poor woman.

The maximum salary a Filipina maid gets in Qatar is 800 riyals. Indonesians get QAR700, Nepalis 600QAR

QAR 1 = Php 11.75

Most of these maids don't get any day offs, some only half days on Fridays.

So, how did you reach QAR12,000, again?

if you are good to her then she will come back...

Why jumping to conclusions tigabaguio? if there is a 2 year contract then both sides should respect it. And why the contious whine about abuse? we know that cases of abuse exist in such business, but if generalized it loses its credibility.

Translator..

If that bloody QR 12000 is too much for the sponsor then they shouldn't hire anyone..

It's them who need the service..

Paying that amount don't give them the right to abuse Qatar Labor Law where i believe helpers are counted in..

A booldy 2 yr contract cost the maid sponser a bloody QR 12000. Maid's salary is not included.

Hope that this guy has heard about the new procedure at manila airport where all returning OFW workers and maids in particular are asked to fill a form relating to their experiences while working abroad. It also encourages the workers to report and fill out any abuses, sexual harassment, unpaid wages, etc and this reports could be saved and employers could be prosecuted if not now whenever or wherever they get caught in future

why don't they comeback??

i have join most of the group of pinay maids on facebook here in qatar..

most of them are not allowed to go out for bloody 2 years contract..

few are given limited time just to go to mass..

this is one reason why they don't come back..

and the way she was treated during her stay with you will solidify that reason to come back.

As to your query, ask the agency where you got her. They know the procedure.

If you treat them respectfully, they should not be an issue.

LP, common please, people do read what is implied in your questions.

Show me 1, no more than 1 comment of yours of which you were positive about Qatar and living in it. If you are fine, please reflect that good image in your comments, I thought all along that you are depressed person and have a bad after taste after leaving Qatar. Cheer up, a life is only lived once.

Translator, where did I say that I don't like it here? My question was why people don't come back, if it is so beautiful here. Do YOU know why. Then, tell us. I'm fine here.

zirkwander, where do you people get your info so that few becomes "majority" ? no one denies that cases of abuse does take place, but not as you claim "majority". If you go to the maid agencies, you will see almost all of the available maids shows that they have worked in a gulf country in the past. Why would they go back to hell?

"LoL LP! Because we are used of living in "hell" where booze, clubbing, shorts, sleeveless shirts, p*rk and s*x are allowed, and a little bit of heaven in Qatar is enough for us!.... ;)"

Wow.. I can buy booze, go to a club, wear shorts and a sleeveless shirt, buy pork, and since I have arrived in Qatar I have got married, had a child, and have another on the way so.. sex is allowed.. I guess I'm missing your point..

By zirkwander• 17 May 2012 17:27

Or majority of the maids are physically and/or sexually abused by their employers, thus the reason for them not to come back. if you can escape hell, would you be crazy enough to go back in?

By Translator• 17 May 2012 16:54

LP, do you really hate Qatar to that extent? almost all your comments are negative about the country. Doesn't this depress your life? Man go away from QL or anything starts with Q and enjoy your life.

Many maids do not return because of reasons in their country, not because of Qatar. Such reasons only becomes obvious to them when they visit. I know one maid who left money and many of her things when she went to visit, she decided not to come back. Many maids have tough lives back home, and they are the best to judge their life choices.

LoL LP! Because we are used of living in "hell" where booze, clubbing, shorts, sleeveless shirts, p*rk and s*x are allowed, and a little bit of heaven in Qatar is enough for us!.... ;)

They all say they'll come back, few ever do. If you are her official sponsor, let her go so her RP expires few days after no one shows from the return flight, so that you can get a replacement quickly, otherwise you have to wait 6 months or till her RP expires whichever comes first.

a bigger chance she'l comeback..
