Setting up a business in Qatar
Many businessmen and entrepreneurs move to Qatar with the aim of setting up a business or branch of an established business. If you are one of them, there are a couple of things you will need to keep in mind before going forward. There are a lot of prerequisites to getting your company registered - For instance, you need a local sponsor, A Qatari individual or a 100% Qatari-owned company.
As elsewhere, businesses can be set up in a variety of forms, including limited liability, joint venture and private companies. Whether setting up in a free zone or elsewhere in Qatar, using the services of a reputable business lawyer or adviser is generally recommended to guide businesses through all the bureaucratic and financial procedures and potential pitfalls.
Basic procedures include: providing evidence of sufficient investment funds, plus registering a business premises with the Ministry of Economy and Commerce.
So at what point you need local sponsor? Second, I heard if your business is already registered in any other country, you don't need local sponsor. Is it correct?
